Earlier today, the Kenyan ran in the Olympic marathon, defending his gold medal from Rio 2016. He dominated the field and finished an entire minute before the athlete that came second.

Eliud Kipchoge trolls opponent?
Daniel Do Nascimento started off the race alongside Kipchoge and shared a light-hearted moment with him. Kipchoge smiled at the Brazilian, replicating the iconic Bolt-De Grasse moment. Nascimento smiled back and moved his fist forward.

He was trying to fist bump Eliud Kipchoge mid-race, but the Kenyan had already turned his head and left him hanging. Cameras caught the awkward moment when the Brazilian slowly put his hand down.

Kipchoge makes history
The Kenyan is no stranger to breaking records and making history. He has broken the World record for the marathon twice. Eliud is the only human being to run the 26.2 miles in under 2 hours. He covered the distance in 1:59:40 in 2019.

Today he became just the third man in Olympic history to defend his Olympic marathon gold medal. He finished with a time of 02:08:30, and says he has fulfilled his legacy.
“I think I have fulfilled the legacy by winning the marathon for the second time, back-to-back. I hope now to help inspire the next generation,” world record holder Kipchoge said.“Tokyo 2020 has happened, it means a lot. It means there is hope. We are on the track to our normal lives. That is the meaning of the Olympics.”

The list of accomplishments that the Kenyan has achieved over the years is astounding, and has lost only two out of 17 marathons over eight years. Add to this, double Olympic champion and World record holder.

He has dominated the sport in a manner that we have only seen by Olympic greats like Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt. Eliud’s name is in the same conversation as these athletes.
