23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams will no longer be featuring as the face of the Wheaties Cereal Box. She recently posted a video on Instagram giving the news herself. In the same video, she congratulated and welcomed NBA legend LeBron James as the new face of the brand.

Wheaties announced her as their cover on June 25, 2019.

“It has been an incredible experience to be on the Wheaties Box this year. It means so much to me. I’m proud to have carried on the legacy of champions like Althea Gibson,said an excited Williams.

Williams was also the first tennis player to be the face of the box since Andre Agassi in 2005. In her introduction last year, Wheaties described her as a philanthropist and as a champion.

Serena Williams passes the torch to Basketball Legend LeBron James

Wheaties recently announced the new face of the Cereal Box, Basketball legend LeBron James. Williams was more than happy to announce it and even praised James in her video.

“I couldn’t be more excited to pass the box to someone I admire and respect. A butterfly champion and leader. I’m honored to pass this on to another legend. Welcome, LeBron. You are officially a Wheaties champion,” said a cheerful Williams.

The 39-year-old dropped out in the middle of the French Open 2020, as she couldn’t play any longer due to her Achilles injury. The same injury even forced her to withdraw from the Italian Open 2020. She has not won any Grand Slam since her return in 2016. Fans eagerly wait for her to return to form.
