UFC 249 is fast approaching. There are repeated and strict measures being taken to make sure everyone attending the event is free of the coronavirus and isn’t a cause of concern.

The UFC is following a very strict health code in conducting their events from now on. Being the first live major sporting event to take place after a long hold up, there is no room for any slip-ups. And Dana White and his team are doing everything within their reach to pull this off.

The fighters need to undergo swab tests that will guarantee that they are free of the virus, and therefore can be declared fit to compete. The level of scrutiny is high, and that is exactly what we need right now.

Some fighter’s haven even posted on their social media accounts videos of them undergoing the swab test. The test entails a medical professional to take a swab sample from their nose and throat.

UFC fighter’s posts showing the COVID-19 test

The COVID-19 test can be quite uncomfortable. A few fighters have gone through the test, though they weren’t very comfortable with the areas that were invaded!

Jairzinho Rozenstruik shared with us a glimpse of the process. He captioned his tweet, saying, “What a COVID-19 test looks like.”

Michael Bisping retweeted a video Gilbert Burns uploaded of him getting the corona test. Michael captioned the Tweet, “S**t! My turn to get penetrated on Monday when I get there.”

Even Michelle Waterson posted a video on Instagram. It was a video of her and her husband Joshua Gomez undergoing a test. Gomez quite clearly wasn’t a fan of how the test felt. The discomfort was apparent on his face, but he stuck through it as his wife cheered him on.

Michelle Waterson is going up against Carla Esparza in a woman’s straight weight bout at UFC 249. She captioned her video “COVID FREE”. She’s been tested and all set for her fight.

All these tests are mandatory for the fighters. They will be in close contact with other fighters as well and it is paramount that they are not carriers or spreaders of the virus.
