Recently, the two-time FIFA Player of the Year recently bade goodbye to the sport. On October 6, 2021, she played her last match against Washington Spirits which resulted in a 0-0 draw. The star was spotted being emotional and nostalgic when it came to her farewell.

On Saturday, the USWNT star passed down her iconic No. 10 jersey to fellow player Lindsey Horan.

The emotional video was posted on USWNT’s official page. The video described how even though the skies were clear, it really was getting teary-eyed in Minnesota.

“Clear skies today in Minnesota, but we still got a little misty,” said the video.

Lloyd was captured handing over the jersey to Horan. It was an emotional moment for both of them.

Meanwhile, Horan expressed her gratefulness towards the retired legend sportsperson. Lloyd encouraged her fellow soccer player to keep at it.

“Oh dude, thank you so much,” said Horan while hugging.

“Keep rocking it!” replied Carli.

The scene was indeed emotional. Carli had tears running down her cheeks but covered them with her charming smile.

Horan looks up to Lloyd and is the current attacking midfielder in the game. Hopefully, she will add glory to the jersey with her stunning performances ahead. Lloyd herself is extremely honored to pass on this jersey to Horan, and hopes she wears it with pride.

Fans might soon see Lloyd playing Golf

The star soccer player Lloyd has retired from professional football in September. She will now be spending more time with her family especially with her husband. Brian, her husband, has been supportive and understanding throughout her life as a Soccer player.

“We will all have a lot more time to spend together now, and especially with my husband Brian, who has been my rock and biggest support system for all these years,” said Lloyd.

Carli is excited to start this new life and concentrate on her family. But she also talks about a different outlet to keep up with her competitive mind. So the next sport she chooses might be Golf.

“We are both looking forward to starting this next chapter of our lives without my everyday grind of training and playing, but I will most likely need another outlet for my competitiveness! Perhaps that will be golf?” added Lloyd.

It will be interesting to see the champion soccer player take up a different sport. Keeping Lloyd’s determination in mind, she might just ace it.
