Rafael Nadal fails to bring luck to Roger Federer

Rafael Nadal was present in the player’s box of Federer at the Qatar Open 2010 when the latter was playing against Nikolay Davydenko in the semifinals. The Spaniard had already reached the finals, defeating Victor Troicki in straight sets. Consequently, he was hoping that Federer also reaches the finals and two have another ‘Fedal’ thriller.

However, Nadal didn’t bring any luck to Federer as he lost against Davydenko in straight sets. Subsequently, the Russian went on to defeat Nadal in the finals to clinch the title in Doha.

Nevertheless, watching Nadal clapping for Federer, sitting in his box is certainly one of the moments that the tennis fans will cherish for decades.

Interestingly, there’s another great moment between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in 2004 that very few people know about. Nadal was present in the player’s box of Federer alongside Mirka at the Indian Wells.

After a decade and a half, since they started the ‘Fedal’ rivalry, Nadal and Federer have continued to share abiding respect and admiration for each other. The two legends are aging together but we hope to see more ‘Fedal’ encounters on the court soon after the coronavirus pandemic subsides.
