WATCH: When Serena Williams Unintentionally Smacks the Ball on Practice Partner

At the moment, 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams is sharpening her skills with the Wimbledon Championships 2021 around the corner. However, there are some amusing activities that take place during these practice sessions at times.

Recently, when the American player was training with hitting partner Jarmere Jenkins, she hit the ball unintentionally on him. Although it was funny at sight, the force in that stroke was tremendous.

The incident took place when Williams was engaged in a drill. She first hit the ball towards Jenkins and his reflexes were on point to send the ball back on towards Williams’ side. On the second shot, she hit the ball even harder, straight onto Jenkins.

It was a rare sight and was captured on camera by coach Patrick Mouratoglou. After they saw the funny side of the incident, the Frenchman tells Serena that he has it all saved on the camera. On hearing that, they crack up further. Such incidents can light up the atmosphere and it’s nice to have a mixture of fun and seriousness.

A tough season

Coming to tennis this season, Williams began her stint in Australia and played a tournament displaying top-quality tennis. Unfortunately, she crashed out in the semifinal to eventual champion Naomi Osaka.

After that, she took a short break and returned during the final WTA 1000 clay-court event of the season in Rome. However, she found it difficult to cope with the clay court conditions and was unimpressive with her result.

She was most recently seen at the French Open 2021. Her journey ended in the fourth round. She now shifts focus towards the grass court, targeting the Wimbledon Championships 2021. Grass has been a surface she has enjoyed playing on.

Therefore, she will be looking forward to capitalizing on her chances of capturing her much-awaited 24th Grand Slam title. It will be interesting to see how the living legend performs in South West 19, London.
