The incident took place when Williams was engaged in a drill. She first hit the ball towards Jenkins and his reflexes were on point to send the ball back on towards Williams’ side. On the second shot, she hit the ball even harder, straight onto Jenkins.
It was a rare sight and was captured on camera by coach Patrick Mouratoglou. After they saw the funny side of the incident, the Frenchman tells Serena that he has it all saved on the camera. On hearing that, they crack up further. Such incidents can light up the atmosphere and it’s nice to have a mixture of fun and seriousness.
