“We Are Still Struggling”- Simona Halep Ahead of Tennis’ Resumption at Prague Open 2020

The lockdowns imposed due to the pandemic have affected people and players in different ways. Especially tennis players, because they keep traveling every week playing different tournaments at different locations. So when players are asked to stay home, it will be a huge change. World No.2 Simona Halep has talked about her lockdown experience and expressed worries with the resumption.
In conversation with WTA, Halep talked about her lockdown experience. It was a shock for Halep.

“It was a shock for me to see that everything was shut down. I’m used to traveling so much and suddenly I had to stay home every day and live a normal life. It was a shock. I didn’t understand. I didn’t want to accept it at first.” Halep said

Halep also expressed her worries for the Coronavirus victims. And she is trying to stay positive and protected.
“Then to see so many struggling with their health, I was worried, I have to admit. I was worried at the beginning. Then I asked many people around me and they told me if I protect myself and I take care of me and the people around me, it’s going to be ok. So I did that and I’m still doing that.” Halep said

The Romanian called for a patient approach. And things will be better, she knows the whole world is struggling. Halep is now trying to stay positive and get everything started. But Halep seems to be but skeptical with regards to her participation in the coming tournaments.
“So I feel positive and I don’t feel as negative anymore. But I’m sure we are still struggling, the whole world is still struggling. The economy will be tough and many people will struggle. We have to be patient and believe that it’s going to be better.” she said

Simona Halep begins the resuming season at the Prague Open. Halep is on the entry list of the US Open, but she is still unsure. With World No.1 Ash Barty not playing Halep will be the top-ranked player in the US Open if she participates.
