Krishnamachari Srikkanth, the former Indian national chairman of selectors has said that his committee gave enough time to Virat Kohli to flourish. Indian captain Kohli donned the blue jersey in 2008 when the Srikkanth was the chairman of selectors. Although Kohli used to bat like a pro in ODIs since his beginning, he required support in the Tests.

“Let me also remind you, we were the ones who gave Virat Kohli the chance to flourish and look where he is today! So it has all been very satisfying,” Srikkanth said.

He recalled India’s 2011 World Cup winning memories. The former India player also thanked God as the Indian team got a captain like MS Dhoni. He shared that when he took over the responsibility in 2008, his dream was to build a team that could win the World Cup in 2011. He considered the World Cup win as ”the best moments” of his journey so far.

Virat Kohli has been leading the team almost half the decade now. He has been leading with examples and become one of the best captains Indian cricket as well. He led the team in the 2019 World Cup in England but they lost in the semi-final to New Zealand.

However, he referred 2019 to as ‘‘one of the best years for Indian cricket”. He further added that they will keep trying to win ICC trophy as the team deserves to win. He shared his happiness the way his boys played throughout the year across formats. Moreover, he expressed that it has been wonderful to take part in this journey.
