However, the standout point of this season was when he won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics this year. During the event, he managed to beat World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, who seemed unbeatable until the German knocked him out.  

At the moment, he is competing in the final event of the season, the ATP Finals 2021. He is currently competing against World No. 2, Daniil Medvedev after getting a walkover in his opening performance. He has impressed so far this year and it will be interesting to see how he performs in Turin.
