Premier League club West Ham will likely break their club transfer record if they sign Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater this summer. West Ham are currently in the process of a massive revamp and are hoping to rope in the Englishman.

Sources claim that Chelsea are more than willing to part way with Drinkwater ever since his arrival from Leicester City. Drinkwater has failed to solidify a permanent place in Antonio Conte’s plans this season.

The 28-year-old has had just eight starts in his Chelsea career including ten appearances off the substitutes bench.  as he has struggled with injuries and a lack of form when he has been called upon.

West Ham are desperate for a central midfielder by the time the next transfer window arrives. The need is dire as their Premier League berths are at stake. The Hammers need to strengthen their ranks, following poor seasons for Mark Noble and Cheikhou Kouyate. Meanwhile, midfielder Pedro Obiang was out of action due to a knee injury. Fortunately, he has returned to training after four months of inaction.

If the Hammers completed a deal for Drinkwater that is reportedly worth £30m, this deal would break the club transfer record since Marko Arnautovic from Stoke City last summer.

The Blues will be suffering a loss of£5m on Drinkwater, as they got the former Manchester United midfielder for £35m.

West Ham manager, David Moyes is expected to be handed a £60m transfer warchest, if he stays on for another season. He is doing whatever it take to generate from player sales as well. His aim is to revamp the squad after another season of struggle at the London Stadium.

Drinkwater himself will be eager for a change of scenery and hopefully some more playing time. Something that was lacking during his time at Chelsea.
