“What a Champion”: Stan Wawrinka Hails Andy Murray After First-Round Battle at French Open 2020

At the first round of the 2020 French Open, we saw Andy Murray play against Stan Wawrinka. The clash had everyone excited as both of them are 3-time Grand Slam champions. Some were expecting a very competitive battle, but that was sadly not the case.
Wawrinka dominated the match from start to finish and ended up winning 6-1,6-3, 6-2. It was obviously disappointing for the British star, as he was trying to mark his return to the top of the sport with a prominent win. However, he will feel a lot better as Stan hailed him in a recent post on Instagram saying,
“He’s a great example of what a Champion looks like on and off the court! Lot of respect my friend”

Ever since the ATP Tour resumed in August, Andy Murray has been trying to play his best tennis. He actually started off well at the Cincinnati Open by beating Alexander Zverev. However, after that, his performances haven’t been up to the mark.
At the US Open, Felix Auger-Aliassime beat him in the second-round. And now, he was demolished by Stan. This is clearly not the perfect comeback, but the two time Olympic Gold winner is working hard to improve his game, especially his serve as it didn’t work well against Wawrinka.

Hopefully, such improvements will continue and he will touch upon the level he once played at, like in 2016. That was a dream year for him as he reached the World No.1 ranking for the very first time.
