After graduating from high school, Duvernay initially committed to Baylor University but later changed his mind and switched to the University of Texas at Austin. In his freshman year, Duvernay made 12 appearances and started two games. He recorded 20 receptions for 412 yards and three touchdowns. He continued to improve in his sophomore year, starting all 13 games and recording nine receptions for 124 yards.
His junior year saw him start all 14 games, recording 41 receptions for 546 yards and four touchdowns.
