When away from their NASCAR cars, the drivers do have some hobbies that they enjoy. And the same goes for the Hendrick Motorsports driver, Chase Elliott. As it turns out, the 2020 Cup Series champion is an avid flier and even earned his pilot’s license in 2015. It is also worth mentioning that this is not an ordinary license, but Chase Elliott earned a private pilot license.

However, one has to wonder what kind of plane Elliott owns. Apparently, his first plane was a Cessna 182, which he later traded up for a Beechcraft Baron. He often flies the Baron back and forth in between races, but only concentrating in the southeast area. In other words, Chase Elliott never took the plane beyond the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. However, he has flown to the Michigan International Speedway and the Texas Motor Speedway.

What else to know about Chase Elliott and his passion for flying?
Elliott once spoke about his father’s passion for flying planes. He said, “I was always intrigued by my dad flying. I was very lucky to grow up around him and when I was real little, flying places was just such a cool freedom to have. I always looked up to him a lot, not only for his racing, but for that. That mental process of trying to keep the right things in the right order. You’re multi-tasking a lot. You’re always trying to stay ahead of the game, especially flying and racing.”

So far, the Baron and the Cessna are the only planes that Chase Elliott has ever owned. Admittedly, the #9 Hendrick Motorsports driver is hardly the only one to own or even fly planes. As mentioned before, his own father, Bill Elliott, is passionate about planes. So it seems the phrase, like father, like son, is appropriate. Both Elliotts join the ranks of Matt Kenseth, Mark Martin, Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, and Kyle Petty as plane owners.
