Justin Gaethje is a hero in the eyes of fighting fans all over the world. The 4th ranked UFC Lightweight contender accepted the opportunity to take on Tony Ferguson for the Interim Lightweight Championship at UFC 249. ‘El Cucuy’ was originally set to fight Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at the event. However, ‘The Eagle’ pulled out because of travel restrictions brought by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Ferguson is on a twelve fight win streak. His new opponent Gaethje has an aggressive stand-up fight style. He won his last 3 fights via knockout or TKO. A win for Gaethje at the highly anticipated event will guarantee him a shot at ‘The Eagle.’ It will be an incredible 2 weeks for ‘the Highlight’, who may go from not being on the card to the UFC Interim Lightweight Champion.

The bigger question is whether ‘The Highlight’ will be able to lose thirteen pounds before the official weigh-ins on April 17. It will be a quick loss and gain of weight for ‘The Highlight’ if he is to achieve his goal.

The organization will hold UFC 249 on 18 April at an undisclosed location. White has maintained silence about the location as he wants to keep “the creeps” away. The term is a thinly veiled assault on the media with whom he has been at loggerheads for the past few weeks.

Fans have speculated about the location immensely, ranging from a tribal island to the Tachi Resort Casino. White has hinted at the location is an island and spoke about transporting fighters to it. Fans say it reminds them of the video game Mortal Kombat.

Dana White does say he can pull off things against the odds. He has made a video game scenario to become reality. The UFC President has put together an impressive card.
