During the 2016 British Grand Prix, there was an incident at the start of the race when Kimi Raikkonen collided with Lewis Hamilton. A raging Hamilton got the impression that the veteran Finn deliberately crashed into him.

This theory was thrown into the ring, because Sebastian Vettel won on Hamilton’s home soil. Hamilton was furious with the 2007 world champion after the race and still believed that Raikkonen’s actions were deliberate.

However, Kimi’s wife, Minttu Raikkonen defended the then Ferrari driver and hit back at Lewis Hamilton. In an Instagram story, she wrote: “If you cry like a girl when you lose, do ballet.”

Later on, she removed the post, and addressed a fan who vociferously defended Lewis Hamilton. According to Minttu, “Just to be clear, I was not talking about the driver but the team who was crying afterwards that someone did something on purpose. No he didn’t. It’s called racing.”

Unfortunately, the accusations of foul play against Ferrari overshadowed the world champion’s comeback drive in front of a record crowd at Silverstone. Admittedly, after having some time to calm down and let the adrenaline ebb away, Hamilton attempted to diffuse his robust remarks.

“Thank you for loving me for being with all my flaws,” he wrote on Instagram. “I know I’m not perfect. Accepting who you are and loving yourself are so important. Go be great today and be you and give zero f**** to what anybody thinks.

“Kimi said sorry and I accept it and we move on. It was a racing incident and nothing more. Sometimes we say dumb s*** and learn from it.”
