Like many other fights, trash talks and threats preluded the Strikeforce fight. Once inside the bout, the duo started on a high. In just five minutes, both the fighters had their moments.
Coming into the fight with a nine-game winning streak behind him, Diaz had to fight for survival. Daley initially had Diaz down for well over 10 seconds but couldn’t capitalize. Daley once again had his opponent down and gave him a hammer fist. However, Diaz managed to survive and eventually knocked out Daley with three seconds to go for the five-minute mark.

“If you call that a fair fight, I don’t know how people think that’s a fair fight. That wasn’t a fair fight,” he said. “I just fought, I got kicked up in the leg. I got up, what does the guy do? He tries to kick me right in the leg. That’s not a fair fight, man.”
“My other fight before that wasn’t a fair fight. None of these have been. I’ve got people out to get me. Every fight, I’m fighting blind opponents. I don’t know who it’s going to be, who I’m fighting if I’m really fighting them.”

“I need a vacation anyway. They fight me too much,” he said. “I’m not going to be the one to back out of these fights.”
