Former World No 1 Simona Halep has shared a rather bad update on her social media account. She informed her fans that she will not take part in Miami Open because of a left leg injury.

Simona mentioned she was not 100% from the Indian Wells semi-final match, and further examinations confirmed a tear in her left thigh.

Simona Halep remains optimistic about further tournaments

Romanian International was very sad sharing her withdrawal from the Miami open, but then the professional star remains optimistic about the next tournaments. The tear in the left thigh will keep her out for 3 weeks, as reported by the player herself.

Three weeks period is long considering the ?Clay Season? starting up. With Miami Open, Simona Halep?will miss Charleston and Federation Cup tournaments.

Halep already had withdrawn from the Miami Open in 2021 and now injury forced her to sit out again. It could be a blow to a championship race, as Halep was also one of the strong contenders for the title.

Halep?s 2022 season and previous records

The 30-year-old player has been in the WTA circuit for nearly 15 years now. Her consistent performances handed her top seeding in the world, with no Grand Slam title. She has a 2-3 finals record in the Grand Slams and was regular in top-8 in the tournaments. French Open (2018) and Wimbledon (2019) winner later had injury issues, which proved to be a stumbling block for her progress.

Currently ranked 19th in the WTA ranking, Simona had reached deep into the championship tours. She lost to French International Alize Cornet in the 4th round of Happy Slam. Recently, she lost to eventual champion Iga Swiatek?in Indian Wells Tournament.
