Kyle was born to Steven and Denis Edmund. His father, Steven, was born in Wales but was raised in Zimbabwe and lived in South Africa. His mother, Denise was from South Africa.

Steven is known to be the director of a renewable energy company. The Edmunds moved to England when Kyle was 3-years old.

In the 2018 Australian Open, Edmund defeated Grigor Dimitrov in his first-ever Grand Slam quarter-final, when he said that his parents were missing the semi-finals as they weren’t present.
