One of the oldest rivalries in college football is set to unfold as the Navy Midshipmen face the Army Black Knights at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. The Men’s Glee Club is recognized as one of the premier men’s vocal ensembles in the country, while the Women’s Glee Club is the only all-female military choral ensemble of its kind. Together, they proudly represent the Naval Academy, the U.S. Navy, and the Marine Corps.

What is the Glee club’s salary in 2025?

The midshipmen in the Glee Clubs are full-time students, and like all midshipmen, they receive a monthly stipend of roughly $200-$300 intended to cover basic living expenses during training. They do not receive a separate salary for participating in the Glee Club.

The U.S. Naval Academy Band, however, is different; it employs professional civilian musicians who are paid a regular salary.

How are the members of the Glee Club selected?

The Glee Club is composed of midshipmen who audition or demonstrate strong vocal ability and interest. Admission is competitive but follows the typical collegiate model: singers audition for a spot, and directors place them in the ensemble where they fit best. The USNA Music Department oversees these auditions, and participation is voluntary, taken on in addition to the Academy’s demanding academic and military schedule.

This year’s game returns to Baltimore for the first time in nearly a decade. Navy leads the all-time series 63-55-7 and is coming off a 31-13 victory over Army last season, although Army has won six of the last nine meetings overall.

Entering the matchup, Army holds a 6-5 record with a 4-4 mark in the American Conference, tied for sixth, while Navy comes in at 9-2 with a 7-1 conference record, tied for first.
