Apex Legends recently introduced a Duos feature alongside Trios. Other updates include a permanent map rotation which allows players to play Duos or Trios on sections like Kings Canyon and Worlds Edge.

When Apex Legends first hit the shelves, the developers introduced Duos as a limited-time mode. Needless to say, it received a lot of positive reactions from gamers. This was largely with regard to queue times and gameplay systems.

This also stressed on the importance of teamwork and co-operation. The good news is that the 4.2 update is adding the Duos system as a permanent mode alongside Trios.

What is Apex Legends going to do about Solos?

However, with all this talk about duos and Trios, what about Solos? The Solos mode was introduced as a limited-time mode in 2019, but not everyone was a fan.

In fact, it resulted in new players electing to leave the game voluntarily. So, to curb that, Respawn Entertainment designed the game to compliment teamwork and squad composition. Unfortunately, Solo mode renders some Legend abilities as useless.

As per design director Jason McCord, Respawn chose not to include Solos in the new update. However, they are hoping that they can incorporate a Solo experience into the game in the near future.

Clearly, players are fond of map variety, so the 4.2 update will introduce map rotation. This will include current versions of World’s Edge, Kings Canyon Season 2, and Kings Canyon After Dark.

McCord further stated that Respawn plans to reduce queue times, which explains the decision to opt for rotation maps. This is because selection could pose a negative impact on queue times across the world.

The maps are on a fairly quick rotation and the developers are adjusting it while listening to player feedback. Furthermore, Apex Legends is also going to introduce alternate versions of previous maps into the rotation.

Additionally, the Bloodhound’s Trials pits players against an army of prowlers in order to claim high-tier loot. However, the policy is also every man and woman for themselves, as fellow Legends the loot for their own use.
