No one knows when Fernando Alonso will announce his F1 comeback or if at all, that will ever happen. But the anticipation surrounding everything that Fernando Alonso is solid, perhaps just as much as his race craft.

The Spaniard happens to be among the most respected drivers of all time. So when Fernando Alonso called it ‘quits’ last year, it was understandable why the public went into a tizzy.

From being the driver who prevented Michael Schumacher twice to clinch the 2005 and 2006 world titles to being someone whose superior show enabled Ferrari to put up a fight to Vettel (then with Red Bull; 2010-13), Alonso’s exploits are well documented and revered.

But that said, there’s a piece of news that has got the public excited regarding the former McLaren driver.

Alonso’s return is still doubtable- or is it? (Euronews Australia)

Well, hold your horses. It appears- not that the man said it himself- that Fernando Alonso believes that there’s a possibility that he might return to F1.

Wondering how’s that possible?

Well, to quote Fernando Alonso directly, here’s what he said to a revered motor-racing journal.

“I will have to think [about my future],” he added. “There is time to think in the coming months. Right now I don’t want to get too deep on that thinking, because the Indy 500 is going to take all my focus.

“But, for the future, it depends what I will do after the summer: what projects are coming, where I will switch my focus.

“The WEC, obviously after winning Le Mans and winning Daytona at the beginning of the year and Sebring a couple of weeks ago, it’s a question mark if I commit to that. It ends in 2020 in July, it’s quite a future commitment. Maybe I have to think and be sure of that.”

That said, what do you think might happen? While Fernando Alonso is quite occupied in other racing endeavours outside of F1, do you think he’s still got a lot left in him to achieve in Formula 1?
