Ranking the top players in any league is hard, but it’s nearly impossible for the WNBA. Last year’s draft class took the W to new heights with their star power and talent, but the vets are just as good, if not better. ESPN decided to release a fantasy basketball list in which they ranked the top 100 players in the WNBA for the 2025 season.

A’ja Wilson topped the list as the reigning MVP headlining, while Caitlin Clark follows closely at number 2. Unrivaled creators Stewart and Collier found themselves at 3 and 4 respectively, while Alyssa Thomas rounded off the top 5. However, not everyone agrees with the ranking.

Candace Parker, former WNBA superstar and current TNT broadcaster, reacted to the ESPN list on her Instagram story. The WNBA player ranking post from ESPN showed only the top 10 players, and Parker did not agree with the list.

“I need the names of these fantasy experts.” Candace Parker wrote on her story while sharing this list. The point of contention might have been putting rookie Caitlin Clark at number two. While Parker has not rejected the Fever star like many veterans have, her singular year in the league might not warrant putting her so high up. Experienced players like Collier and Stewart might have deserved to be a spot higher than Clark on this list because of the sheer amount of accolades that they have.

Nevertheless, Caitlin Clark was close to matching Parker’s incredible feat of an MVP season during her rookie year. Landing fourth in voting, Clark missed out by a hair. Her sophomore year is being hyped up beyond measure, and fans can’t wait to see what happens next.

Candace Parker’s prediction for Clark-led Fever

Irrespective of the rankings, it is obvious that Caitlin Clark is on her way to take over the league. Her record-breaking rookie year was a testament to her talent and hard work, and she has been in the lab ever since. It’s not just CC though, as Krauskopf and company have been making big moves.

The Fever acquired Natasha Howard, a stretch forward, and Sophie Cunningham, adding depth to their rosters. Not only that, they retained Kelsey Mitchell, which even Parker thought they wouldn’t be able to do. With how well-rounded their team has become, the Indiana Fever is a definite contender for this year’s championship.

Candace Parker echoed the same during an Unrivaled pregame segment on Monday. “Everybody’s talking about Atlanta, everybody’s talking about Phoenix, but I think what people should be talking about more is Indiana and their additions.” The former MVP said about the CC-led team. “You’re talking about shooters, on shooters, on shooters. It’s going to be tough to guard them.”

That is high praise coming from someone like Candace Parker, a legend of the sport. If Caitlin Clark continues to shine in her sophomore season, the Fever might win it all! What do you think? Can Clark lead her team to the promised land? Did she deserve to be second in ESPNs ranking? Only time will tell.
