If you ever wondered what would happen if the WNBA, NBA, and the Indy 500 had a crossover episode, Aliyah Boston just gave us the best answer yet. In Indianapolis, where racing engines and basketball sneakers are equally loved rhythms, the Fever star became the unofficial ambassador of all things sports in the city. What makes us say that? Well, one could tell when they saw her waving the green flag at the Indy 500 qualifying like it’s just another Saturday, and then donning the special tee for the Pacers.

On May 18, Boston teamed up with fellow Fever rookie Makayla Timpson and coach Stephanie White to kick off qualifying at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. “Being on the track and kind of seeing how fast all the cars go, and to meet Colton was pretty dope,” Boston said, clearly fangirling over her meet-and-greet with Andretti driver Colton Herta and the sheer massiveness of the 2.5-mile oval. So now, in addition to locking down rebounds and dropping points, she’s officially the middle lane between hoops and horsepower. And if that wasn’t enough, she’s doing it all while serving LOOKS.

Indy was prepped for a jam-packed Memorial Day weekend, complete with the Indy 500 and Game 3 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals. And don’t forget this was like only the fourth time the Indy 500 and a Pacers home playoff game fell on the same day. So, of course, “Pacers & Racers weekend” was in full swing, and according to Visit Indy’s Chris Gahl, it was “an incredible opportunity to put Indianapolis on the minds of virtually every major sports fan on the planet.” Absolutely because throw the Indiana Fever and their playoff-level games into the mix too, and one can rest assured that the weekend is going to be something! And Boston, after her 27-point explosion, completed the mission with flair.

Boston and Timpson were doing it again as they rolled up to Game 3 rocking “Vroom Baby” tees—a nice remix of Bob “Slick” Leonard’s iconic “Boom Baby” three-pointer call. And those shirts? A gift to fans, complete with racing + basketball designs, because Indy doesn’t half-celebrate anything. Boston shared a picture on her Instagram Story with a “Go Pacers” caption, being the less words, more impact queen she is. Because, hello? She was there uniting the city’s sports fandom with her mere presence.

Also, talking about the LOOKS we mentioned—if Boston’s fits haven’t been on your radar, you need to update your style icons list. Ahead of the Fever’s season opener on May 17 against the Chicago Sky, there was a video dropped of her pulling up, looking like she just stepped out of a runway. And just before her Pacers story, there was another teasing of her WNBA pregame outfits as she posed in two different dresses, writing “Me🤝Dresses”. Do we even need to mention that she looked absolutely stunning??

And this mutual support between Indianapolis stars? It’s been on full display. Remember how Pacers players like Obi Toppin had rocked Fever gear for “Fever Night” for National Girls & Women in Sports Day? Then, earlier in the season, Boston, Lexie Hull, Caitlin Clark, and DeWanna Bonner popped up at a Pacers game. And IndyCar royalty like Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti had also been there at Pacers games earlier in the playoffs. It’s like a big family.

And Boston at times turns into a coach, too, for other teams.

Aliyah Boston turns Coach for the Cavaliers

The 2024 WNBA season was behind her, and two months remained for Unrivaled to begin. So, Boston thought, why not tell everyone what I had planned and what I have been planning? Hard to let go of that competitive spirit, right?

What’s your perspective on:

Can Aliyah Boston's charisma unite basketball and racing fans in Indianapolis for good?

Have an interesting take?

Last November, she was sitting courtside for a Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Boston Celtics game until she wasn’t just sitting. At one point, Aliyah Boston seemed ready to work as the Cavaliers’ assistant coach—at least for a few seconds. Caught in the moment, she gestured toward head coach Kenny Atkinson, all but filing a formal request for him to challenge a call.

An X user shared a clip from TNT’s broadcast, capturing Boston mid-point and mid-plea, with the fitting caption: “Aliyah Boston telling Kenny Atkinson to challenge a call.” Let’s just say, she has a future in coaching once she retires (which we hope won’t be for long, long). And never one to stay quiet, she even commented under the video writing, “😂😂😂 I try my best to be quiet but I can’t help it“.

She probably sighed when the Celtics ended up winning the game.
