“Paige and I have something that we want to share with everyone,” Fudd said on the podcast. “We are no longer together.
While the initial declaration might have already broken so many hearts, especially those passionate ones who kept compiling cute moments between the Dallas Wings teammates, perhaps the biggest shock to a lot of their fans was the timeline of their breakup. Bueckers revealed that they had broken up before the Wings drafted her former UConn teammate and now, her ex.
“We were not together before she got drafted. So all of those narratives can go to bed,” Bueckers said.
When Fudd was drafted by the Wings at No. 1 overall, her relationship with Bueckers was rumored to be one of the factors in the draft. But Bueckers revealed that the Wings drafted her because Fudd deserved to go No.1.
“She was not drafted because she was my girlfriend. She was drafted because she deserved it. She’s an amazing human, amazing basketball player.”
Bueckers and Fudd have known each other since high school. They won a championship together at UConn. It made sense for the Wings to put together the championship pair in Dallas to get themselves among contenders.
“We’re still friends. We’re still cool. We played an entire season together,” she continued. “We’re the utmost professionals. We care about basketball.
“Sometimes in life, there are just seasons. And sometimes in life, two people are just at different points in their lives,” Bueckers added. “We still support each other. We’re still going to be great friends. We’re still going to be great teammates.”
Bueckers had a chance to reveal their breakup before the season started, but she held back, perhaps thinking that it would overtake the Wings’ 2026 season. During the team’s media day, when she was asked about her relationship with Fudd, Bueckers said that she kept her personal relationship separate from her professional relationship.
Bueckers first announced her relationship in 2025 during an appearance on the WAG Talk show on TikTok. Azzi Fudd was also in attendance when the Wings selected Bueckers at No. 1 in the 2025 draft, and so was Bueckers when the Wings selected Fudd in the 2026 draft.
