A’ja Wilson has been relatively quiet in this Indiana Fever series. She had one of her worst playoff performances in Game 1 for a while, going 6-22 from the field. Wilson forged a comeback in Game 2, leading the Aces to a comprehensive win with 25 points. Game 3 was a bust yet again, scoring only 13 points (6-20 FG), but the Aces won regardless. In Game 4, Wilson is pushing to close out the series on her own while reaching a major milestone in the process.

As the clock ticked down in the first quarter, A’ja Wilson finished a lay-up on top of Aliyah Boston, but it wasn’t any normal one. With those two points, Wilson completed 1000 career playoff points, becoming the 7th player in WNBA history to do so. She also became the third fastest to reach this mark, doing so in 50 games, missing Breanna Stewart’s mark by just 4 games (who is the fastest) and Taurasi by 2.

Stewart reached her 1000 points in her heroic third game performance in that Game 3 Phoenix Mercury loss. Moving to Wilson, she moved to 7th in the all-time list, passing Breanna Stewart’s 1006 points in this Fever matchup itself. Diana Taurasi holds the WNBA’s all-time playoff scoring record with 1,486 points.
Wilson was well on her way to being faster than Taurasi coming into this series, averaging more than 29.3 points per game in the Storm series. However, like we discussed, she has been limited against the Fever, averaging 18.0 points per game. Aliyah Boston has managed to annoy Wilson in the paint, and her strategy has largely worked.

“Honestly, just trying to kind of be annoying a little bit, because A’ja is a pretty great player. So for me, just trying to make sure my presence is felt,” she said during Game 1 and has stayed true to it since. However, like even the Fever knows, Wilson is bound to get some of her shots away and go on runs, like in that first half where she finished with 12 points, 6-10 from the field. If she continues her form throughout the rest of the 2025 postseason, she could potentially break another Breanna Stewart and Diana Taurasi record.
A’ja Wilson Could Go Past Diana Taurasi, Breanna Stewart In Another Record
A’ja Wilson has firmly put herself in the goat debate already. She is not among the absolute top yet, requiring longevity to do so, but her achievements so far scream greatness. She is already the only one to win 4 MVP’s and now she is marching over playoff records too. If the cards are right, Wilson could firmly be among the best playoff players ever by the time 2025 ends.
In the same game, Breanna Stewart became the fastest player to 1000 postseason points. She dropped 30 points to go along with nine rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks. Stewart tied with Taurasi for the most games of 30 or more points (8). A’ja Wilson is on 6 games with 30+ points, needing three more to become the sole leader in the category.

That seems like a daunting task, but it’s not for Wilson. She is already second in the regular-season version of the list with 37 such games behind, again Diana Taurasi, who is at 54. In 2025, she has 13 regular seasons with 30+ points. Wilson dropped 38 points in that Game 3 against the Storm. With the Aces primed to reach the finals, Wilson will get at least 5 more games apart from this Fever series to get there. If Wilson gets her form back, this record is in sight. And of course, if Wilson starts dropping 30 bombs, the Las Vegas Aces could see the WNBA title in their grasp regardless of who their opponent is. Jackie Young is in top-notch form at 19.0 points per game in the playoffs, and Chelsea Gray is the creator in chief at 7.2 assists per game. NaLyssa Smith is giving Aces the X Factor against the Fever and could carry this to the finals (if they reach there, of course). A’ja Wilson and the Aces are gearing up for a final 2025 push.
