As Game 1 of the semifinals between the Indiana Fever and Las Vegas Aces ended, there was a strange feel to the scoreline. Never mind that the Indiana Fever won the game despite of all the odds against them. What’s strange is that A’ja Wilson was held to just 27% shooting for just 16 points. Naturally, after the game, Aliyah Boston (who held her to 2-11 when defending) was asked about her game plan for this. Her reply was so simple yet so insightful. “Honestly, tryne kinda be annoying a little bit.”

Now, in the midst of ongoing Game 4, Aliyah Boston is trying to make sure that she is able to replicate her Game 1 performance against one of the best in the league. As things stand, Wilson is 6-10 for 12 points. She started the first quarter hot but has somewhat cooled down in the second quarter. When asked about the adjustments she made in her half-time interview. Aliyah Boston had a simple two-word message for A’ja Wilson.

As teams were heading to the locker room, WNBA reporter, Holly Rowe, asked Aliyah Boston, “A’ja Wilson comes out, she’s more efficient in the first quarter, but you’ve adapted in the second and started to limit her. How did you do that?”. To which Aliyah Boston had a trademark response. She said, “Hey, Holly, we’re professionals. People are going to score the basketball. So, for me, like I said, just make sure she feels my presence. And if she hits a tough two, she hits a tough two.

Well, unlike the rest of the games in the series, Game 4 was a proper battle between the two former South Carolina players. Till now, it was Kelsey Mitchell who was shouldering most of the scoring burden for the Indiana Fever. However, in Game 4, Aliyah Boston came in clutch and led the Indiana Fever on both ends of the floor. In some moments of the game, it almost felt like the two were playing 1-on-1. While A’ja Wilson did end with 31 points on a 14-24 shooting, Aliyah Boston wasn’t far behind with a 24-point performance.

As the Indiana Fever came away with a must-win game for them, we are set to witness one more epic matchup between the two. While Aliyah Boston was indeed the biggest contributor, there were many others who had a positive impact. Kelsey Mitchell scored 25 points, Odyseey Sims also came back strongly after a poor game 3 with 18 points, and while Lexie Hull did have a poor shooting night, her tenacity on defense was invaluable (4 steals and 1 block).

Aliyah Boston has a record-breaking night as the Indiana Fever force a Game 5

As the Indiana Fever prepared to face an elimination game against the Las Vegas Aces, there were some concerns about the current second-best player of the team, Aliyah Boston. Even though she had a career-best year in the 2025 season, in the playoffs, she had remained fairly quiet. The prevailing opinions among the WNBA analysts were that for the Indiana Fever to have any chance of forcing a Game 5, Aliyah needed to score more.

And just befitting of a three-time All-Star, she tremendously answered the bell. Not only did she score more, she ended the night breaking two records. On her way to a double-double night, she became only the second player in Indiana Fever history to register a stat-line of 20+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 5+ assists. The only other player to have achieved this feat was Indiana legend Tamika Catchings, who did it twice and was also present in the game.

But that’s not all, with her 18th point in the game, Aliyah Boston also recorded her playoff career-high score. Her previous best was 17 points in her first playoff game ever against the Connecticut Sun. While all these records are surely great, the best thing to happen for Aliyah Boston and her Indiana Fever teammates is that she is finally able to break the shackles. Now with the all-important win-or-go-home game set to be played in Vegas, the fans will hope that Aliyah is able to match the level of performance she set tonight and lead the Indiana Fever to it’s first WNBA Finals since 2015.
