This is how Aliyah Boston reacted after NBC announced, back in 2023, that the then WNBA Rookie of the Year was to appear as a studio analyst for Big Ten women’s basketball games on Peacock. One advantage of the WNBA calendar is that it allows active players to pursue media opportunities during the offseason. Boston, who plans to pursue sports broadcasting after her basketball career, has already gotten herself ahead of her curve with her debut 2 years ago. Now, she is set to build upon that.

According to Front Office Sports, the Indiana Fever star is set to finalize a deal to return to NBC Sports and Peacock this fall. Sources highlight that Aliyah Boston might serve as a studio analyst and a possible game analyst for Big Ten college basketball coverage.

Aliyah Boston graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2023 with a degree in Communications. According to reports, she came to USC with a strong interest in broadcasting, but wanted to learn about communications more broadly. This led her to pursue the same course, from the same college, that her WNBA rival A’ja Wilson pursued. As one of the University’s Associate professors, Kenneth Campbell, revealed, “When she had essays or a project due while she was away for games, she stayed in touch via emails and met the deadlines, even when she was at the Final Four, winning national awards and playing in the championship.”

Boston engaged in all of this effort to pursue sports broadcasting after her basketball career was over. While we don’t know what unique angle she will bring to her future coverage, we do know that she aims to treat other athletes the way she would have liked to be treated.

“I feel like it’s possible to write a good story, or tell a good story, without putting someone in a dimmer light,” said Boston. “I’m going to put everybody in the bright light. Somebody wins and somebody loses, but we’re all putting our hearts into it.”

From the looks of it, the off-season will certainly keep the player busy. After all, the coverage alongside the NBC crew won’t be the only thing taking up the Indiana Fever star’s time and energy.

Aliyah Boston Is Set To Return To Unrivaled

A few hours ago, the official X account of ‘Unrivaled Basketball‘ announced that Aliyah Boston is returning to the 2nd season of Unrivaled. She had last played for Team Vinyl alongside Arike Ogunbowale, Jordin Canada, Rhyne Howard, Rae Burrell, and Dearica Hamby.

“Allowing me to work in space, and allowing me to just be confident in the stuff I’ve worked on this offseason, I think that’s the biggest thing. Knowing that I put in the work, and knowing that I put in time, and knowing those things will execute,” said Aliyah Boston when highlighting how ‘Unrivaled’ might go on to help her during the 2025 WNBA season. The 3 v 3 league gave Boston a chance to stay sharp during the off-season and hone her skills alongside the other players on the Team Vinyl roster. What followed after that was, as Marca described, “arguably the most impressive stretch of Boston’s young career.” Therefore, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the player is giving the league another chance during the off-season.

During her first season with the league, Boston played in 13 games and averaged 5.9 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 4.0 assists. On the shooting front, she averaged 0.07-0.13 (50%) 3-pointers, 2.40-4.93 (48.65%) field goals, and 0.53-0.80 (66.67%) free throws. When compared to other players, Aliyah Boston ranked 37th of 39th. With any luck, the 2nd season will prove better for her.

Aliyah Boston’s Indiana Fever is now just 1 win away from making it to the 2025 WNBA Finals. However, another loss will eliminate the team from the series. Either way, the player at least has two major things to look forward to in the coming months.
