What started as a simple sporty gesture by Angel Reese ignited a series of intense reactions from some passionate Caitlin Clark fans. Eventually, in the first episode of her podcast, Unapologetically Angel, the Chi-Town Barbie would express how dark it was getting to be popular, for just being herself. Weeks in, Reese reveals how her podcast has been a medium to really voice her side after all these days.

Though the Chicago Sky star has previously been open about her views, ‘Unapologetically Angel,’ has really given her the space to be her own voice better and clear. When asked if this is a movement to inspire female athletes to control their narrative on Chicago State of Mind Sports, Reese had a bit of her view to share.

“Over the years, from college until I started my podcast, I was able to give everybody else the narrative to say ‘whatever they wanted’ to say believe it or not true or false… And me not being able to say anything, like that’s what I kind of miss about being not so famous.” Reese explained.

Through 3 episodes of her podcast, the 22-year-old has been able to talk about topics involving her that she was aware o,f but never spoken about. From all of her dating rumors, her break at the LSU, the struggles of being famous, to her views on women’s sports, and hundreds more. Caitlin Clark rivalry just happened to be the louder example, letting spectators in on the horrors of having her address exposed, receiving death threats, or being subjected to ra–sm.

Even if she spoke up earlier, it was majorly limited to the tiny spaces of social media. So having had enough narratives, Reese is finally here to let it all out and be able to move on, which would have been rather constricted otherwise.

“Like I used to be able to type in on Twitter and clap back or say things back but like now I’m in a space where I really can’t do that anymore and I feel like my podcast is really an outlet for me to like address things and then move on from it,” reasoned the double-double queen.

Fascinating as it is, Reese revealed that the inspiration behind her strong willpower is none other than her mother.

Angel Reese credits her mother for her success

In the interview, she described how her mother, Angel Webb Reese, had made it clear to get a scholarship if she wanted to go to college and do things her way.

“I kind of was in a mindset where I have to go get it regardless cuz I wanted these things in my life. Luckily, I was blessed to be able to get an athletic scholarship, an academic scholarship to school and then continue my journey and she kind of made me become like an independent woman,” said Reese.

The 22-year-old has previously revealed, she is who she is because of her mother. Angel Webb herself was a basketball player and an independent woman as a single mother, raising two kids all by herself. So little Angel also had her mother’s confidence to learn from and imbibe. “She always stood her ground for everything,” the 22-year-old had told ESPN. Not a doubt Reese remained strong throughout with her mother for influence and support.
