A’ja Wilson and Angel Reese switched roles at the Met Gala. The four-time MVP Wilson became the novice, arriving at her first Gala whereas third-year WNBA star Angel Reese is now the veteran, appearing in her third gala as well. Regardless, both came in with the same swagger, representing the WNBA among the most elite personalities in the country.

Just one week before she made her debut at the Met Gala, Wilson dyed her hair a “Jean Grey type of vibe with X-Men” red. Now, those are gone, as the four-time MVP chose a blonde look for  the “Costume Art” theme. She arrived in a textured, metallic gown with draped sleeves by Prabal Gurung, accessorizing with gold chokers.  Wilson was draped in a cape that flowed from the upper body and draped down on both sides.

On the other hand, the Dream star stand stayed true to her Bayou Barbie image. She dazzled in a custom pink Altuzarra gown that gave old Hollywood vibes. The two-time All-Star complemented her look with a diamond necklace featuring a pink pendant.

“It’s just another expansion of women’s sports and continuing to build our brand outside of just being a basketball player,” Reese said. “This organization … has continued to help me on a platform, being able to be a part of something that’s special. So there are gonna be some WNBA players there tonight, and I’m excited to see (them), but that should just be the standard. And hopefully, you’ll see more of them.”

Angel Reese And A’ja Wilson Hailed As Faces Of The League After Met Gala Appearance

“OKAY TROPHY!!!! PERIOD,” a fan commented on the A’ja Wilson photo. Well, she already has three of them and is going for the fourth. But her tunnel vision is what got Wilson ready for the moment. Wilson has been rocking eye-catching dresses for a while now.

From Louis Vuitton purses, 2000s-inspired styling, and jersey dresses to a glamorous black-and-white zebra-print suit with gold-button details and cropped pants with white high heels, Wilson can own it all.

“There’s plenty of times where I’ve told my stylist, ‘I ain’t doing this. I need to pour into this scouting report before I put on a pair of heels,’” she told the magazine. “People should understand how powerful it is to walk into a game in heels, crush it, and put those heels back on. That is so powerful.

While her fit takes the cake, her hairstyle is something this fan particularly noticed.

“Congrats a’ja👏👏👏!!! The met is POPPIN’🔥🔥🔥… love the blonde hair!!!” wrote fan. The Marvel-style red was a hit among the fans and so is the blonde. Wilson is often chopping and changing her hairstyle. But she serves in every color, be it the baby pink last year or the blonde at the met Gala. While Wilson blew the roof off with her gold dress, Reese went all in with her pink-themed dress, which had its own set of admirers.

“Face of the League,” fans wrote regarding both Reese and Wilson. They are two of the most popular superstars in the league. On one corner you have a certified legend who is already in the ‘GOAT’ conversations, while on the other there is a fashion-cum-basketball star that played a huge part in the 2024 WNBA explosion.

Popularity-wise, Reese is currently ahead with her millions of social media followers, brand deals and just the business she has built around her basketball career. Legacy-wise, it is Wilson who is ramping up on her brand as well. She appeared on the cover of Time Magazine this year and is set to release her sophomore sneaker, the Nike A’Two.

“Looking like a Dream 🙌,” the official Atlanta Dream account wrote, praising Reese. The Dream acquired Reese from the Sky this past offseason and have seen their popularity grow. The social media reach spiked as Reese brought in a whole new set of fans. Reese has also been pretty vocal about how the Dream is a changed atmosphere and how it is benefiting her on and off the court.

“Omg she’s so pretty! 🩷👑🌷✨️ I love bunches of cloth in gowns, as it reminds me of Disney princesses. This color is lovely,” complimented the fan. Reese has become synonymous with the “Barbiecore” pink fashion, regularly wearing head‑to‑toe hot‑pink or baby‑pink outfits. She had an all-pink (although different shades) dress at her biggest fashion moment at the Victoria Secret as well.

Angel Reese and A’ja Wilson have redefined the game for the WNBA stars. Now, a new avenue like fashion has opened up for them because Reese and now Wilson paved the way. They remain two of the iconic superstars and leave fans guessing as to what they will pursue next.
