Angel Reese and controversy go hand in hand. The Chicago Sky player has often been portrayed as the antagonist in media against Caitlin Clark. You may think, what impact has that had on the league? The 2024 WNBA viewership since these two clashes has increased by 170% compared to the 2023 season. Interestingly, Reese has leaned into this villain image, stating she will comfortably “take the bad guy role.” This step of going against the flow has earned her some loyal fans.
However, it has also brought in a flurry of critics, who continually microanalyze every move of the Chicago Sky player. One faction that is ready with pitchforks every time Reese speaks is the Indiana Fever fans. The player and the fans have allegedly been through a rough patch or two multiple times. The latest example? The 2025 WNBA All-Star weekend. The game took place in Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the home to Indiana Fever. With more than 20,000 fans in attendance, things were expected to get wild.
The first blow came from the Chi-Town Barbie, Reese, She claims she had a lot of fun. But in her cryptic tweet, she wrote ‘players’ in all caps, hinting that was the sole reason she had so much fun. This triggered a lot of Indiana Fever fans who were present to watch the game. One such fan took to X to reply to Reese, advising her to have some gratitude. In her reply, the fan advised the 23-year-old to focus on therapy rather than seeking attention online. She didn’t stop there and went on to say the 2025 All-Star game was an unforgettable experience due to the joint effort of players and the fans present there.

One fan came forward to explain that there can be a possibility her tweet was literally what it said without any hidden meaning. “Maybe she’s saying the players brought the fun and not the league,” an X user said. With the rising tensions between the league and players over equal pay, the fan suggested that was what she meant. Furthermore, her tweet could mean that Indiana felt like Miami, complimenting the crowd.
Another fan was confused over the notion, too. “Wait, why are you mad? She said the WNBA players made All-Star weekend fun. What p****d you off about that?” chimed a fan. The fan was simply urging her to drop the hate, as it was just an exhibition game. There were no implications on the league based on this game.
