It’s not a good time to be a Chicago Sky fan right now, not at all! The franchise, once at the top of the entire WNBA, is lying in shambles even with a superstar in Angel Reese. Their roster? Bruised, beaten, and plagued with injuries. Their record? Near the bottom of the west. Every other night, some team comes along and drops 16 threes on Tyler Marsh’s team, and it seems like they’re helpless to do anything.
This past weekend was especially excruciating for the Sky. They lost both back-to-backs, giving Phoenix their franchise record for three-pointers made, and letting Atlanta kick them while they’re down. Moreover, their star player Angel Reese has not had the best weekend either…
The six-foot-three center received a lot of fire for her lack of initiative against the Mercury. She didn’t take a single shot during the first half! After ending her first game of the weekend with 9 points and 2 rebounds, everyone expected Reese to go beast mode for the game against Atlanta. However, it was not to be. While she did end up with a 10pt, 19reb double-double, Angel Reese shot only 27% from the field. Her only highlight? An open three posted by the ESPN X handle.

However, she’s not letting the white noise affect her! Angel Reese has been known to drown out the hate ever since her LSU days, and it seems like her mental fortitude is still going steady. Recently, the Chicago Sky star posted her latest fit on Instagram with the caption, “i could literally throw a fit everyday if i wanted.” But there was one crucial change–her IG comments have been limited.

And honestly? It makes an abundance of sense. Everyone has bad days, but the W fans are not known for being forgiving when it comes to Angel Reese. Some privacy could go a long way to keep her psyche dialed in for the games to come. The Chicago center has been doing really well with handling the criticism and the noise recently, so what’s her secret? Let’s find out!
“Behind a keyboard for a reason,”: Angel Reese details her secret to keeping calm amidst frequent criticism
Love her or hate her, Angel Reese has become a household name all across the country. She has a chip on her shoulder the size of Peoria, and she hustles like no one else in the league. After all, how else would she break so many rebounding records in your first year? How would she average a double-double for two years in a row?

But even though she crashes the glass like nobody’s business, her offensive bag and bold personality attract a lot of hate from basketball fans. Reese has become the proverbial ‘villain’ in Caitlin Clark’s story for a large part of the WNBA community, nothing more, nothing less. And in turn, she gets a lot of hate!

Is Angel Reese the hero Chicago Sky needs, or just another player struggling under pressure?
Have an interesting take?
So, how does she deal with all of this negativity? Well, the Chicago Sky star recently revealed that it hasn’t been as bad as it looks! “I don’t worry about what’s going on online. I get so much love in person, I haven’t ever had a negative encounter in person ever.” She said in the media availability, talking about her experience of three years. “So people online are behind a keyboard for a reason.”

Of course, it’s easy to talk from behind a screen. There aren’t any repercussions, or any consequences for whatever you say. That is exactly why Reese focuses on what’s important–basketball. “I trust my work, my teammates trust me.” Angel Reese said, and that’s all that matters!
Regardless of what people feel about her, the Chicago star’s tenacity and determination is something to admire! And even though this past weekend has been a setback, we all know that the Bayou Barbie will bounce back in no time at all. If in the mean time she needs some peace and quiet? Well, who can fault her for that!
