Angel Reese has been on a serious confidence glow-up, shrugging off haters and owning every moment. Recently, she even trademarked the mocking nickname “mebounds” to slap on shirts and hats, joking, “whoever came up with the ‘mebounds’ thing… that’s six figures right there,” playfully turning mockery into money and motivation. She’s kept that same swagger on social as well: “Every successful person you admire survived a season you didn’t see. Idols turn into rivals. Everything becomes about survival,” she captioned an Instagram post. She even went on to channel her inner LeBron James energy full-throttle.
Reese recreated a James meme that every hoops fan knows well. With her hand resting on her hand and that signature smile, the post was screaming, “Smiling through it all! Can’t believe this is my life.” And of course, that’s how she captioned it, too. So, there’s never a dull moment when Angel Reese is involved, whether she’s battling on the boards or breaking the internet with her latest off-court statement. So, wondering what’s latest from her now? Well, the same confidence glow-up continues in a very literal sense.
As the Sky were preparing for a pivotal clash with the Los Angeles Sparks, a matchup between two teams that are desperate to snap three-game losing streaks, Reese’s latest statement didn’t come through a meme or a subtle quote. It came through her mirror. Less than 24 hours before the tip-off, she posted a striking new look on Instagram, capturing the attention of the fans and adding intrigue to what was already a high-stakes game for both franchises. Perhaps Angel Reese is following the motto followed by almost everyone on this planet, “Fresh cut before a fresh start.”

In a short Instagram Story video, Reese revealed a fresh hairstyle: tight, swooping cornrows leading into a cascade of waist-length curls, framed by perfectly styled baby hairs. Dressed in a cropped white vest that revealed her navel piercing, she captioned the video, “this hair is sooo perfect! thank you bby!” tagging her stylist and hair brand. That was not the end – a follow-up close-up shot displayed the detailed braid work and glow-up styling with another shout-out. “@stitchedbyindia you really snatched up all my thoughts… thank yaaaaaa.” The fact that the post came out only 23 hours before Chicago’s game at Wintrust Arena suggests that it was meant to boost confidence and maybe even be a symbolic start over.

This fresh aesthetic arrives at a turning point in Reese’s second season. Despite leading the league in rebounds with 11.5 per game and recording a historic triple-double just nine days ago, her last outing against Phoenix saw a shocking dip of two rebounds and one field goal attempt in 21 minutes. Then, ahead of the Atlanta game, Reese was labeled as “questionable” with an unknown injury, though she did suit up. So, this constant influx of confidence is indeed important, and Reese is making sure she tries to make every day count.
New hair, new records
Angel Reese had been riding high off her game against the Mystics, but on Saturday against the Mercury, her on-court glow slipped. She ended up with just nine points, two rebounds, and two assists in 21 minutes, and managed only one made field goal. So, naturally, everyone was worried coming into this game against the Sparks. But the hair seems to have done the trick.

Angel Reese: Is her confidence the secret weapon behind her record-breaking performances this season?
Have an interesting take?
At halftime against the Sparks, with the Sky trailing 48-42, Angel Reese was rocking some serious symmetry of four points, four boards, and four assists. And according to Polymarket Hoops, Reese just became the fastest player in WNBA history to rack up 150+ rebounds and 50+ assists in a single season. Not too shabby for a rookie who some folks thought could only rebound. Also, earlier in the first quarter, Angel Reese casually became the fastest player ever to notch over 600 points and 600 rebounds in her budding career.
So, no doubt, Reese is back again.
