“If you don’t have no haters, you ain’t popping.” Okay, can we talk about Angel Reese for a second? The Chicago Sky star is an absolute game-changer, more so with the ‘tomboy’ role and she’s playing it very well! Her rebounding and physicality set the tone for whatever team she’s on, be it LSU, Chicago, or even Rose BC. However, there’s a long-standing issue in her game that was once again highlighted against Vinyl BC. So where exactly does she fall short?

Well, with how fast the modern game is developing, she needs to improve her scoring. The three-ball is an integral part of today’s game, and even centers need to shoot passably from deep. However, Angel Reese’s inside game could also use some work. She shot 39% from the field as a center/forward in her rookie season, highlighting that her shooting efficiency needs to go up.

Even WNBA legend Lisa Leslie admitted that Reese needs to improve her finishing. On her podcast, the USC alum mentioned what the six-foot-three forward could do better. “The biggest advice I have for you is gonna be how you shoot your layups, period,” she said, “Like, we’re gonna fix that. That’s fixable for you. I can’t wait to work with you some more.” And they did!

Videos of the two working together made the rounds on social media, inspiring hope in fans for some tangible improvement from Reese. Her 20-20 Unrivaled game looked like a sign of amazing things to come! However, her most recent game was a major setback for the six-three forward.

Angel Reese’s 10 points and 13 rebounds looked quite impressive in a 74-46 blowout victory, but her lowlights under the rim grabbed the attention of fans and haters alike. And they didn’t pull any of their punches either.

Fans angered as Angel Reese fails to meet ‘set expectations’

Social media went crazy over clips of Angel Reese in her recent matchup against Vinyl BC. Her clumsy footwork and inability to convert opportunities led to a lot of criticism from fans. Reese didn’t play the entirety of the game, having to sub out because of an injury scare. Still, fans weren’t happy with her performance.

A Lakers fan page on X expressed their frustration with the Rose BC star. “What did Angel Reese work on in the summer?” After promises of heavy off-season work, nothing seems to be reflecting in the Rose BC star’s game. She was pictured missing open layups with the defender on her hips, which simply was not done at her level.

The Chicago Sky star even put in the work with Lisa Leslie, a legend of the game, but it didn’t seem to bear fruit! “It’s like all of that s— Lisa Leslie taught her. She just forgot about that quick. It’s like it was one ear out the other If a LEGEND Legend like Lisa Leslie can’t teach her. Then she can’t be teached.” Brutal. An emotionally charged fan commented on the video that the LakeShowYo account posted.

Everyone expected more from Reese, as her off-season videos hyped up the fans. “Apparently she was shooting 3s in practice but still can’t make layups right under the rim.” Another fan said, trying to make sense of her offensive issues.

The criticism wasn’t limited to pointing out the flaws. Some even had an explanation for why Angel Reese was struggling. A passionate fan, as it seemed, commented, “She’s just not exceptionally athletic. She has the body one expects in a pro but one can see she lacks a bit of coordination, has very little ‘touch'”. Another one lapped onto the conversation and agreed that her touch under the rim needed work, pleading with the star to return to basics. “Someone show her the Mikan drill, for the love of God.”

While fans are upset, there definitely has been an improvement in Angel Reese’s game. A bad performance doesn’t wipe out all the hard work that she has put in, and we can see it when she scores. Her team has a tough road ahead, as the Rose BC heads to a packed semi-final match against the Laces team on March 16th. However, even with her flaws, Angel Reese is going to have a crucial part to play on Saturday. Because you can’t write off the best in the business.
