While Angel Reese’s bold fashion choices certainly turned heads at the All-Star orange carpet, it was the other way around when it came to her stats in the All-Star game itself. Reese finished scoreless at the end of the night as Team Coop lost to Team Spoon in a high-scoring 129-122 game.

The official Team Coop stats showed Reese finished the night with 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 0 points. The game witnessed end-to-end action, and Reese saw her playing time limited to just over 9 minutes off the bench, the lowest on Team Coop, and a lot of fans weren’t impressed.
Meanwhile, Jonquel Jones finished the night as the top scorer for Team Spoon, with 22 points, and added another 13 rebounds and 8 assists, earning the All-Star MVP award.
Kelsey Mitchell’s game-high 28 points and Marina Mabrey’s 23 points were not enough as Team Spoon emerged victorious, even while committing six more turnovers, registering 15 on the night, versus 9 turnovers for Team Coop.
So when the Draft Kings highlighted Reese’s stat line in their post, the discussion hovered around her points.
“They say you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take unless you’re Angel Reese then you miss the ones you do take as well… ” a fan wrote, referring to the fact that Reese made just one field goal attempt in the entire game.
“Of course she had more rebounds than points,” another fan wrote.
Reese is leading the league in rebounds, averaging 11.5 rebounds per game. Earlier in June, Reese became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 1,000 career rebounds, doing so in just 79 games. She smashed the previous record of 89 games held by Tina Charles.
Some argued that Fever’s Aliyah Boston also scored 0 points and she was a starter. “Saw a limited role in this game,” commented one fan, as Reese wasn’t part of the starting lineup.
However, others were quick to point out that Boston spent even less time on the court, putting in just 5 minutes.
“She was the only one (besides Boston, but we all know Boston is a beast ball player that actually belongs on the court) that didn’t score any points in 9mins of play. Boston played 5mins; MEbounds must’ve left her doll in her pocket,” commented one fan.
“She had an unguarded wide-open layup and somehow missed it. She makes no sense. It’s the easiest way to score in the game. How do you miss a layup?” questioned another.
Meanwhile, the Caitlin Clark comparisons inevitably dropped. “9 minutes. 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 0 turnovers +11, and Boston had 0 points and was a starter 🤡. Clark – 5/17 and 5 turnovers.”
With the All-Star Game behind her, Angel Reese will resume the regular season action on July 28 as the Atlanta Dream try to make their way to the playoffs.
