Raised by a single mom in Baltimore, Angel Reese has never had it easy. She’s been judged for how she dresses, criticized for how she plays, and trolled for simply being herself. But through it all, she never backed down. She just got louder, prouder, and, well, unapologetically herself. Some folks just see the fame, the followers, the spotlight. What they don’t see is the grind, the grit, the hustle behind the scenes. Love her or not, the most followed star in the WNBA is a sensation. And this weekend, she proved it again…literally running a whole marathon just to show up for both her worlds.
Starting from Friday, the Chicago Sky played at her alma mater, LSU in an exhibition game vs. Brazil. Then, on Saturday, Reese celebrated her 23rd birthday with a Y2K-themed bash—though her actual birthday was on Tuesday. On Sunday, she was off to NYC for Met Gala prep. And then, she flew back to Chicago, landing at 2 a.m. on Tuesday, just to be ready for the Sky’s preseason showdown vs. the Lynx.
What a jam-packed weekend! By the end, she finally caught her breath and tweeted, “now i can tweet…. I MADE IT THROUGH 😭 God DID cause whew chileeeee im TIREDDDD.” Well, she had every right to be.

The Chi-Town Barbie ran the most fabulous full-court press we’ve ever seen. And not only did she show up, she showed out. In that preseason opener, she dropped a cool 15 points and 10 boards and did it all in front of her people, rockin’ that #5 with so much pride.

Then, there was Met. Reese, in only her second Met Gala ever, made it her moment. This time, she wasn’t just a guest, she was a member of the exclusive host committee, joining legends like Simone Biles, Spike Lee, and Usher. She wore a custom black two-piece look from Thom Browne—a long-sleeve cropped top, lace-up details, a corset skirt with a train.
It was elegant and edgy absolutely but her diamonds stole the show. She was draped in Graff, a luxury brand basically reserved for royalty and A-listers. After all the glitz and glam, she was back for the second preseason game. “I don’t know how I’m doing this. I’m living on vibes,” she told the media. Well, whatever those vibes were, they were working. Even running on fumes, she added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the Sky’s 74–69 win.
Her Coach Tyler Marsh backed her all the way, even supporting her Met Gala trip. He said it straight that she earned that moment. Honestly, this whole whirlwind just reminds us of two big things. First, Chicago has got one of the brightest stars in the entire sports world, period. Second, at such a young age, Reese is only going up from here.

But at the Met, she wasn’t the only representative from the WNBA community.
Along with Angel Reese, the Liberty trio brought the heat to the Met
This year’s Met Gala saw four WNBA players show up and show off. Because while the NBA playoffs make it tricky for their male counterparts to attend, the WNBA’s May start lets these ladies shine.
Monday night was wild in NYC. The Knicks squeaked past the Celtics in the playoffs and on the red carpet, the Liberty took over. Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, and Jonquel Jones pulled up, repping the W in style alongside Liberty co-owner Clara Wu Tsai. All three rocked Sergio Hudson. Sab looked elegant in a flowy skirt, blazer and white top. JJ turned her hair into literal art.

However, it was Stewie, who aced the look. Her swoopy gelled hair moment, hat cocked just right, all-white suit was a straight-up statement. While the New York trio posed together, inside the museum, Reese was vibing with Megan Thee Stallion and Doechii. They even did a vlog tasting hors d’oeuvres. Also, along with these pros, we saw college star Flau’jae Johnson, glowing in a Walter Mendez gown with a Lynn Paul headpiece and Grown Brilliance jewellery. A whole star, and we’ve been known.
Even some NBA reps made it. D-Wade with Gabrielle Union, and Savannah James holding it down while LeBron James sat this one out with a knee injury. So, all in all, the basketball people owned that red carpet.

Let’s see if we see more W stars on this carpet next year. For now, though, with regular season tipping off soon, we’re hoping that Met energy keeps showing up in those tunnel fits too.
