The game winners, hustle on the court, long threes, and Caitlin Clark are back in action. But even before she could grace the court, arenas were selling out in minutes— even the preseason fixtures. Her return to the Carver-Hawkeye Arena was a glimpse of the celebration, with 15 thousand fans filling up the seats. But then, when Caitlin was doing her thing, Angel Reese was also preparing to shine on the big stage. And it was a big hit for the Chi-Town Barbie, too.

The needle movers or the catalysts, whatever you call them, there is no question that when Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark make public appearances, cameras and money are rolling in. As for the Fever star, her pre-season debut and return to the Iowa home court brought in $9.75 million in ticket sales alone. And the star didn’t disappoint the spectators with an offensive game on the court, like she had never left. For Angel, it was more of a Hollywood style.

Attending her second Met Gala event, the Chicago Sky Gal was the host for the event and a member of the planning committee. If anyone, it’s Angel Reese who knows how to balance basketball and fashion immaculately. After all, she calls the latter her second passion, one she has catered to since she was a little girl. So, just as she was putting in extra hours in the training room, Reese dedicated time and attention to her preparations for the fashion fiesta too. And it was evident to the cameras.

Her looks on the red carpet were flawless, fitting the ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’ theme.

“The look was, of course, inspired by the theme of the evening, which is ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,’ an ode to Black dandyism,” Reese told Ariel Baker of Marie Claire. “It was rooted in timeless elegance. I wanted to channel Old Hollywood glam with a modern twist—clean, glowy skin, a bold lip, and soft glam that felt powerful and timeless.”

Reese was seen in her stunning Thom Browne outfit with a sharply tailored black long-sleeve crop top and contrasting white collars. To complement her outfit, the star paired it with a high-waisted, floor-length satin skirt. But if you ask makeup artist Leticia Chancey, who worked to create her look for the evening, it was the week-long skin prep that needed attention. “I told her to drink plenty of water, and not to do anything different to your skin… at least a week before the Met,” she reveals.

Let’s just say they delivered. The fans and the media went gaga over the final output. “THEE FACE, Angel Reese!” I Talk Hoops spoke for everyone, while another fan detailed the makeup look. “10/10″ they say. Now that’s the thing about Reese. She’s hearing turning heads at the biggest fashion event today, and just two days ago, she was clicked with Kim Mulkey at LSU’s Pete Maravich Assembly Center, in action for the Sky franchise.

Caitlin Clark's return or Angel Reese's Met Gala—who's the real game-changer in sports today?

Aha, she was at Sky’s first game of the season. She played against Brazil’s national team in a preseason game, attended the training session a day later and excused herself for the Met Gala event. The Chicago franchise, as supportive as ever, allowed their forward to dazzle on the ramp too.

“She’s handled it great,” said Sky head coach Tyler Marsh. “She puts in a ton of work in the offseason, during the season, extra work. She explained to her teammates that she would be there, and as an organization, we’re supportive on and off the court. It’s a great experience, great opportunity, and we’re supportive of it.” And so, Angel Reese is now spreading her charm.

As someone who has been “a fashion girlie from young,” hunting for the right fits in her mom’s closet, this is as good as it gets. But as Reese had a walk to remember, she wasn’t doing it alone. The Sky icon had some company from the W.

WNBA Champions Accompany Angel Reese at the 2025 Met Gala

Along with Angel Reese, Simone Biles, Ayo Edebiri, Spike Lee, Sha’Carri Richardson, Usher, and André 3000 were part of the host committee. Every established star brings in their flair and makes the event successful. Apart from the committee, though, there were stars on the floor too, some regulars, some making their first appearances – like the 2024 WNBA champion pair of Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu.

30-year-old Stewart leaned into a white suit jacket and tailored trousers. The all-white look also got a lift with an icy wide-brim hat and matching cape. One of the more striking ingredients in her look was – kiss curls framing her face that just fit in the retro look. Her teammate Ionescu went sporty. She was in a white crop top with a silky black blazer. To add to her own shine, a few diamond accessories were added – rings on her fingers, a tennis necklace, dangle earrings and several bracelets.

Liberty owner Wu Tsa was also at the event in a black gown paired with a green-stone necklace and matching earrings.

But for Angel, it was her passion from childhood. It’s always been both: basketball and fashion,Reese told Vogue in an interview published Jan. 8. “I was always in my mom’s closet, putting on her stuff. I liked to carry a purse. Hair done. I wanted to look put together. I still do.”

Reese will be the center of attention in the fashion world, and now will be working on making a similar impact on the basketball court too. Her Chicago Sky will play their first game on May 17 against the Indiana Fever.
