Prediction: Can the Fever continue to defy odds?

After that 80-68 collapse in Game 1, the Fever came back with a statement in Game 2. Kelsey Mitchell finally got some help with Aliyah Boston and Natasha Howard stepping up big on offense. From deep, the Fever looked like a whole different team too, dropping eight treys after only hitting two in the opener. And on defense? They were locked in, holding Atlanta to just 5-of-19 from three and their second-lowest scoring night of the entire season.

But the Atlanta Dream know they’ve still got the upper hand over the Fever heading into this decider. Indiana’s dealing with a long injury list, and going into a win-or-go-home game without Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham, and Aari McDonald is never easy. Let’s not forget that the Dream have players like Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard, who alone combined for 35.9 points per game in the regular season, while Brionna Jones and Naz Hillmon pulled down 13.5 rebounds a night. And they have Brittney Griner coming off the bench to dominate the paint as well.

The numbers lean toward the Dream too. They’ve got the league’s second-best offensive rating at 108.2 and also sit second in defense at 98.9. The Fever aren’t far behind on the offensive end with the third-best mark at 106.2, but their defense takes a hit, ranking seventh at 101.8.

Naturally, ESPN gives the Dream a 65.8% chance of winning, and that’s not really a surprise. They’ve got the stronger roster on paper and the added boost of playing at home, where they hold a 16-6 record this season. So, if the Fever end up getting knocked out tomorrow, it wouldn’t exactly shock the community.
