Angel Reese has quickly established herself as one of the most recognizable active Atlanta sports figures, helping lead the Atlanta Dream to their first WNBA Finals since 2013. Now, just two days after completing a 3-0 sweep of the New York Liberty in the Semifinals, she turned up to the Atlanta Falcons’ Sunday Night Football matchup against the Baltimore Ravens with her teammates, and the Atlanta side wasted little time acknowledging their star guest.

“We got @Reese10Angel up in here!” the Falcons posted on X, with a picture of Reese in the stands.
The forward was dressed in a red leather jacket paired with black pants, black boots, and sunglasses. However, what makes this interesting is who the Falcons were playing. For those unaware, Reese is from Maryland, but instead of supporting her state’s team, the Ravens, she instead chosen to rep the Falcons.
Reese was born in Randallstown, Maryland, and grew up in the Baltimore area, where she attended St. Frances Academy before starting her collegiate career at the University of Maryland. Though she eventually transferred to LSU, where she won a national championship, she has stayed connected to her hometown, which makes her current allegiance an interesting talking point.
Reese wearing red wasn’t just another outfit choice. According to an announcement last week by the Falcons, this game marks the team’s first time hosting a ‘red-out’ night since moving to Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Fans were told to wear red to support the team, which has debuted new red-colored uniforms, since red apparel was not going to be provided by the team.
The Falcons have done ‘black-out’ nights before, and ahead of the game, quarterback Michael Penix Jr. has publicly encouraged fans to show up and support their team.
“We need all our fans to show up,” Penix said. “We’re super excited to be back home. Obviously, we’ve been away these past couple weeks. So, super excited to be back in front of our home crowd. We can’t wait to see everybody back at the Benz.”
All this comes just days after Angel Reese turned up the heat to lead the Dream to the WNBA Finals. Atlanta swept the New York Liberty 3-0 in the Semifinals after dominating the Washington Mystics 2-0 in the first round. They head into the Finals against the Golden State Valkyries firing on all cylinders, and Reese has been key to their success.
The forward was named the Defensive Player of the Year before the series tipped off, and she quickly showed that it wasn’t an accident. Game 1 saw her engineer a defensive masterclass, logging four steals and two blocks while the Dream forced the Liberty into 21 turnovers, converting them into 32 of their 92 points. That figure tied the WNBA record for most points off turnovers.
Reese averaged 20.7 points and 7.7 rebounds over the series and locked down on defense, logging two steals and 2.3 blocks per game. However, the most impressive part of her semifinal series is the blazing-hot three-point shooting, something that has been an inconsistent part of her game so far. She shot 57.1% on long-range shots, making New York pay for leaving her open. However, it was only after the series that it became clear how much the win meant to Reese.
“I was watching the finals from home for the last two years. I kept saying… ‘Just give me one game in the playoffs. Give me one game in the playoffs,'” Reese told reporters after Game 3 of the Semifinals, having spent her first two WNBA seasons not making the playoffs with the Chicago Sky.
“I manifest a lot of things and think it’s important to speak positively into your life and your team, but this is all God. I’m thankful and blessed to be in this situation. A lot of people wish they were here, and I’m not gonna take this moment for granted.”
That manifestation wasn’t a private hope either. On October 10, 2025, she posted on X that she was “manifesting” a spot in the WNBA finals. 364 days later, Angel Reese’s wish came true. Only time will tell if she can bring home the first championship in Dream history.
