Caitlin Clark became the fastest player to reach 4 career triple-doubles against the Portland Fire on Friday. Meanwhile, Paige Bueckers is helping the Dallas Wings orchestrate a massive turnaround, from a 10-34 record last season to currently being #4 with a 19-11 record. However, Peter A. Berry ranked Clark behind Bueckers in his article; the outcry from fans was immediate.

Bueckers is averaging 20.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game this season, and Clark is putting up 21.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 8.0 assists per game, and Clark fans feel that is far too close for her to be behind Bueckers.
Although Bueckers has led the Wings to No. 4 in the standings ahead of the Fever, Caitlin Clark has been on a record-breaking spree. She became the fastest player in WNBA history to record 1,500 points & 650 assists, reaching this career milestone in just 78 games, beating Sue Bird’s previous record of 116 games.
She is also the fastest to record 500 points & 150 assists in a single season. In Fever’s latest game against the Lynx, she tied with Sabrina Ionescu for the third-most triple-doubles in WNBA history, doing so in her 78th game.
Needless to say, Clark fans wasted no time reacting to Berry’s article on Complex.

The fan pointed to Bueckers scoring just 6 points despite playing 25 minutes during the Wings clash with the Connecticut Sun. Meanwhile, Caitlin Clark helped the Indiana Fever set a new WNBA benchmark, with a record-setting 5 consecutive wins where they scored more than 100 points.

Clark logged a double-double against the Lynx, and leads Bueckers in true shooting percentage as per Stat Muse. While Bueckers holds a 60.4 TS%, Clark currently leads with 60.6. However, that’s not the only stat fans highlighted
“Same record and Caitlin leads her in almost every statistical category, including points, assists, rebounds, etc.,” one fan said, pointing out that Bueckers is posting stats similar to Clark’s, and so her position above her in the rankings is not justified.
“Could’ve said Olivia Miles and would’ve been closer but still…,” another fan said, pointing out that rookie Olivia Miles, who is having a record season with the league-leading Lynx, would have been a better choice.
Interestingly, this is the second time this month Caitlin Clark was ranked behind the league’s other top players by analysts and reporters. ION WNBA left out Clark while discussing the potential league MVP for this season, garnering a similar response from the fans.
