Caitlin Clark became the first WNBA player to get her own global premium NBA 2K cover in July 2026, but NBA 2K27 isn’t done shining the spotlight on CC. As the game’s second season approaches, Clark was featured alongside Indiana Pacers star point guard Tyrese Haliburton, drawing quick reactions from her boyfriend and the state’s two professional basketball teams.

“Caitlin and Tyrese know… you gotta put in the work 💪 NBA 2K27 Season 2 info dropping tomorrow! 🔥,” the Instagram post read, featuring a new graphic of the two point guards for the upcoming season.
Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, immediately shared the promotional post on his Instagram story. Meanwhile, in the comments section, both the Indiana Fever and the Pacers showed support for their superstars.
“🔥👏,” the Fever posted.
“😤😤😤,” the Pacers replied.
The pair has been part of a fitting partnership, considering how passionate the basketball audience in Indiana is, and both players have brought tremendous success to their teams.
With Clark at the helm, the Fever have made the playoffs twice, ignoring the 2025 season in which she played only 13 games before sitting out the year due to injury. The Pacers have seen a lot more success in recent years.
After making the Eastern Conference Finals in 2024, the team made the NBA Finals in 2025, going down 4-3 to the Oklahoma City Thunder in one of the most impressive postseason runs in recent NBA history. Unfortunately, that series saw Haliburton tear his right Achilles tendon in Game 7, which led to him missing the entire 2025-26 NBA season. The Pacers finished with one of the worst records in the league, but are set for a bounce back this season.
Back in July, two months ahead of the game’s launch, publisher 2K announced that Clark was the cover athlete for the Deluxe edition. NBA 2K27 launched on September 4 and featured Clark as the second-highest-rated WNBA player in the game, behind only A’ja Wilson.
This also isn’t the first time Clark has appeared alongside Haliburton, with the two previously collaborating back in February 2026 during the re-release of the Rain Berry flavor of Gatorade. The bottle featured a picture of Clark, and the ad featured Haliburton “surprising” the Fever guard with a bottle of the flavor, which was discontinued earlier this decade.
“Best Gatorade flavor that’s ever been invented,” Clark says. “Not even close.”
What makes their friendship stand out is that before Clark made it to the pros, Haliburton didn’t have any public relationship with her, something he acknowledged later.
“I knew she was good. Caitlin was the best player in the country. I would never ever say that she’s not; I just refuse to acknowledge it,” he said during an appearance on the Kittle Things podcast.
“When you’re coming to Iowa, what you’re not understanding is you’re going to a state that has no professional sports teams, so the college sports are everything.”
Of course, Haliburton played for the Iowa State Cyclones, but Clark played for the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the rivalry between their programs stood in the way of any friendship. Things are very different now.
Haliburton comes to Fever games whenever his schedule allows for it, and Clark was seen courtside multiple times during the Pacers’ magical 2025 postseason run, when they came within one game of winning the championship.
For now, all that’s left for fans to do is wait for the NBA 2K update to arrive on October 16, with more information about it set to be revealed before the launch. Meanwhile, though Clark’s season is over, Indiana fans can look forward to the Indiana Pacers starting their 2026-27 season on October 21.
