A three-time champion, a two-time MVP, and a leading scorer in 2022, letting go of Breanna Stewart was in no books of New York. “She’s not only one of the best and most accomplished players in the world, but a leader whose relentless drive is foundational to the standard we continue to build upon in New York,” GM Johnathan Kolb said of re-signing her in 2025.

So when the star forward returned, she did so as the highest earner of the Liberty. However, she’d forego a good chunk of it if it meant the franchise would have a better chance at acquiring a complete 12-player roster for another shot at a championship. So, she did. But where does that leave Stewart’s current contract? Let’s take a look.

What is Breanna Stewart’s salary with the New York Liberty?

Right after winning the WNBA title with the New York Liberty, Breanna Stewart and the franchise extended her stay for one more season. The renewed contract is reported to be worth $208,400. That’s $40, 844 down from her supermax contract — $249,244 — that she stood eligible for.

Her 2025 salary value puts Breanna Stewart just outside the top-10 earners in WNBA, with Jackie Young receiving the highest annual salary of $252,450 from the Aces, and $214,666 being the 10th highest paycheck in the league received by Brittney Griner at the Atlanta Dream.

The current sum, however, still puts Stewie atop the rest of the Liberty stars and just ahead of Sabrina Ionescu’s $208,060.

Breanna Stewart contract history: How much has she made from the WNBA?

Entering the league in 2016, Breanna Stewart now gears up for her 8th season in the league. Throughout this period, she has represented two franchises – the Seattle Storm and the New York Liberty. Stewart missed the 2019 season due to injury while she played a season with Fenerbahce in 2022 before returning to the States.
