Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston have combined for some impressive moments together in an Indiana Fever uniform over the years. But their performance in the team’s 114-106 overtime victory against the Chicago Sky may well stand as the most complete and impactful display they have produced as a duo.

Making history, the two players became the first pair of teammates in the league to each record a 30-point double-double in the same game. For WNBA analyst Erica Ayala, that kind of performance was not a surprise, but a validation of a carefully constructed franchise vision.

“This is the blueprint,” Ayala said, speaking on Monday’s episode of the We Need To Talk podcast. “This is why Indiana drafted these two in back-to-back years. This was always what was expected. And this is why when we talk about the best of Indiana. We’re talking about Clark and Boston in the pick-and-roll action.

“There’s a lot of other stuff that has come with Indiana since, specifically, Clark has entered the league. And I’m not going to litigate that. But my point is when it comes down to the basketball, this is the vision that the team had when they picked these two in consecutive years as their number one pick.”

The individual stat lines from that night were extraordinary. Caitlin Clark finished with 32 points, seven rebounds, and 10 assists, while Boston delivered a career-high 34 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists. It was the third time in Clark’s young career that she recorded a 30-point, 10-assist game. And so far, she’s entirely alone in WNBA history with the most such games. No other player has ever accomplished that feat more than once.

With another victory in their most recent outing against the Connecticut Suns and both Clark and Boston once again delivering standout performances, the Fever now sit at 8-5 on the season. They will be hoping to secure a fourth consecutive win when they face the Toronto Tempo in their next game.

Stephanie White highlights Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston’s performance after Sky win

The brilliant display from Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston in the Indiana Fever’s win over the Chicago Sky certainly did not go unnoticed by coach Stephanie White, as she made sure to applaud the duo’s performance after the game.

“Their synergy was just really good,” White said at the post-game press conference. “I felt like their reads and where they went in the two-man was really good, too. They just played really confidently, and they moved the ball, and it was exactly what we needed.”

White also pointed out that Clark and Boston executed their timing extremely well. And that’s something the Fever coaching staff has been quite intentional about emphasizing throughout the season.

“I think that their timing and we talked a lot about being on time in our reads and in our passes,” she added. “And I felt like tonight in those situations, especially with those twom they were often on time and on target.”

With the Fever gradually beginning to string wins together, it appears that things are starting to come together for the team. They will now be hoping to maintain that rhythm and continue improving as the season progresses.
