As negotiations between the WNBA and the WNBPA continue, even after missing deadline after deadline to find common ground, Caitlin Clark has decided to take her business elsewhere for a while. Where? A place where she will put her voice to work.

According to the latest updates, the Indiana Fever star is all set to join NBC Sports as a special contributor for its brand-new pregame show, Basketball Night in America, on February 1. Clark will make her on-air debut at Madison Square Garden, appearing live ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers’ matchup against the New York Knicks.
There she will share the studio with Maria Taylor, alongside NBA Hall of Famers Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter, and Tracy McGrady, placing her voice directly inside one of the league’s most star-studded broadcasts.

The pregame show will begin at 6 p.m. ET, with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

“I’m really excited to be part of the Basketball Night in America crew this season,” Caitlin Clark said as per The Hollywood Reporter. “Carmelo, Vince, and Tracy are legends of the game, and Maria is a true professional. It will be really fun to join them a few times this season.”

To put the scale of this move into perspective, NBC has also brought in Michael Jordan to make occasional appearances on its broadcasts as a special contributor. That alone speaks volumes about the kind of company Clark is now keeping.
And this won’t be a one-time cameo either, as Caitlin Clark will return to Basketball Night in America on March 29 as well.

“Caitlin is one of the most captivating players and dynamic scorers in basketball,” Sam Flood (Executive Producer for NBC Sports) said. “We’re excited to have Caitlin join Hall of Famers Melo, Vince, Tracy, and Reggie in New York for the launch of Sunday Night Basketball.”
However, expanding her presence on one of the NBA’s biggest platforms comes at a time when uncertainty continues to surround Clark’s own league.

WNBA CBA Talks Continue to Drag On as Uncertainty Lingers
The WNBA is at a point where its next steps will not only dictate the league’s future but also the trajectory of women’s basketball. But, with the league and the WNBPA still searching for common ground after players opted out of the previous collective bargaining agreement in October 2024, the negotiations have now dragged into 2026 without any resolution in sight.
At the heart of the dispute is how the league’s rapid growth should be shared with players.

Since the last CBA was signed, the WNBA has seen record viewership, soaring attendance, rising franchise valuations, and the announcement of a massive long-term media rights deal.

But as the league continues to grow, players believe the current economic structure no longer reflects that reality, and they are pushing for a greater share of league revenue and a significantly higher salary cap.

So while the union is advocating for a model based on gross revenue, the league has proposed a net-revenue framework. And this is the core of the divide that has pushed the negotiations into a stalemate, with neither side willing to budge.

Although the league’s operations technically continue as neither the players nor the league wants these talks to affect the 2026 season, both sides retain the right to initiate a lockout or a strike.
And with training camps approaching in the coming months, the pressure to reach an agreement is only increasing.
