It’s safe to say Caitlin Clark is never going to let Taylor Swift hear the end of it. The two have become close buddies over the last few years, and Clark joked while congratulating Swift, “I cooked, happy for them.” Wait, if it was Taylor Swift who got engaged, how did Clark “cook”?

Let’s rewind a few years to Clark’s time in Iowa, when Swift and Travis Kelce had just started dating. The long-range phenomenon took a risky logo three and, in fact, predicted Swift’s engagement. “They’re going to get married,” Clark told Big Ten Network early in her senior season at Iowa. “You heard it here first.” But if we’ve learned anything, it’s this – no matter how long the odds, when the ball is in Caitlin Clark’s hands, the impossible has a way of looking possible. So now, after Swift, the world’s most famous “childless cat lady”, finally got engaged, the Caitlin Clark fandom is rooting for her to be next.

In a fun twist of fandom creativity, popular social media account @HeavensFX blurred reality and fantasy by morphing Caitlin Clark’s and Connor McCaffery’s faces onto one of Taylor Swift’s iconic proposal photos. In another unique surprise, the ring’s design was one the Clark fandom knew all too well.

Caitlin Clark and Connor McCaffery’s Viral Meme Shakes the Internet

Yes, the photo is clearly AI-made and a fake, but fans love hypotheticals. Especially around the time of the biggest or the most popular wedding of the decade. Clark’s close friendship with Swift meant this announcement was always going to bring some “marriage fever” pressure on the Iowa alum. The account captioned the photos by writing, “haters will say it’s Photoshop”. However, after the meme went viral, the fans had some mixed reactions to the prospect of Clark tying the knot with Connor.

“You gonna start a war,” wrote a fan. It sparked a conversation that was once kept on the sidelines. While there is no clear sign of Clark and Connor getting hitched anytime soon, the couple has a history of keeping important news to themselves. When they started dating in 2023, they only went public after four months. The fans received this big news on a random Tuesday when Clark posted a photo with Connor on her Instagram. “Best end to summer,” she wrote.

“Go Hawks!” wrote another fan. Clark-McCaffery has become the standard for an Iowa power couple. Both attended Iowa while representing the college at the highest level possible and breaking multiple records in the process. Clark has gone on to become the most popular women’s basketball player, while McCaffery is an assistant coach for Butler University. The couple recently celebrated their 2nd anniversary as McCaffery wrote on his social media, “2 years ♾️ keep being u 🖤” and his younger brother was quick with a snarky comment, “2 years of third wheeling with a lifetime to go,” Patrick McCaffery wrote, signaling the two are bonded for life.

However, all was not positive as another fan wrote, “Hey, now don’t put this hate in the universe. Cc deserves a good man.” McCaffery has been largely liked by the Clark fandom, but clearly, he has some haters among them, too. So far, there have been no speed bumps in their relationship that we know of, and it’s smooth sailing for the couple.

What’s your perspective on:

Is the Clark-McCaffery duo the ultimate power couple, or is it all just hype?

Have an interesting take?

While the duo might be on their way to recreate the photo in question, McCaffery would have to hit the gym, according to some, as another fan wrote, “Connor wishes his forearm looked like that.” But well, it’s not like Connor is new to the gym; he dominated as a guard for six seasons at Iowa, leaving his mark with record-setting assists and clutch leadership on the court.

While a crop of fans imagined how their proposal would pan out, another fan appreciated the ring design. “But love followers won’t x it’s actually fantastic design prob one in a lifetime ring x”. It was the newly released Nike Logo for Clark, which gives McCaffery a ready-made design for the ring, as it marks almost all the requirements. The interlocking C’s are a personal touch from the Indiana Fever star. According to a release from Nike, the smaller C represents “how Caitlin’s game was built from the inside out — a product of her passion for the sport, relentless drive and constant pursuit of perfection.” It’s a unique and personalized design, but we still need some hint from the power couple to start celebrating.
