Paige and Caitlin will be joining the likes of Aliyah Boston, Sonia Citron, Kahleah Copper, Chelsea Gray, Dearica Hamby, Rhyne Howard, Kiki Iriafen, Kelsey Plum, Angel Reese, and Jackie Young as they look to earn their place among the very best. This would also mark their debut on the senior roster, and coincidentally, it will feature two of the top women’s basketball stars today.

The USA is the defending champion, and as such, there will be immense pressure to retain the trophy successfully.

How these two players complement each other on the court to set the tempo will be key, as a lot would depend on it. The USA has already booked a direct berth to the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026, but the qualification stage would serve as the place where they will hope to get the combination right.

The USA is also looking to find a new dependable backcourt pair, and if the pairing clicks, maybe we’ve got a game in our hands. Well, this wouldn’t be the first time that Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers would play together, though.

The pair have already won gold at the 2019 FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup. The duo also trained together in 2025 in the Team USA camp. So getting the opportunity to see these two stalwarts play together will definitely be on the “must-see” list for many.

But apart from Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers, there are also a bunch of other players who are just as good and need a special mention.

Team USA Looking Solid Ahead Of the Qualifications

Well, when you have a team brimming with stars, what more can you ask for? Kara Lawson knows the amount of talent she has at her disposal and knows a promising future is on the cards for her and her team.

“They’re really bringing something new to our sport, a kind of excitement, but also fan communities that follow them everywhere they go. And that’s great. We have a great generation of young, very talented players coming up, and I’m looking forward to working with them. It will be good to have them in a position to play with Team USA this time and see how they gel with everyone, since there’s already so much talent,” says coach Lawson, who feels optimistic about how the future is looking for Team USA.

Mind you, Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers aren’t the only ones who are making their debut for the senior squad. Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen will also be there, and so will Angel Reese, whose partnership with Caitlin Clark on the court, if it does come to that, will be a huge factor in the game.

As the newcomers will be ushering in a new era, there will also be the presence of veterans. Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young, and Kahleah Copper, who have some experience under their belt. Plum is already a two-time champion (2018,2022), and so are Copper and Gray, who won back in Sydney.

The USA team’s every move will be scrutinized ahead of the World Cup, and now would be the time every player would hope to find the rhythm so that earning time on the court when the team gets ready to defend its crown does not get compromised because the management feels you are not ready.

Team USA will step out in San Juan between March 11- 17, and slug it out with hosts Puerto Rico, as well as Italy, New Zealand, Senegal, and Spain. And if the team can produce their best with the talent on the roster, the other teams will find it hard to survive against them.
