Caitlin Clark didn’t seem particularly worried about her technical foul even before it eventually got rescinded. In fact, when asked about the call by ESPN’s Holly Rowe, the Indiana Fever star appeared almost certain the league would reverse it. The Fever guard’s reaction has sparked a wave of reactions amongst fans.

As seen in a clip of the interview that BrickCenter reshared, Rowe asked Clark about the technical foul, and the Fever star responded quickly and promptly, making it clear that she would definitely be playing against the New York Liberty, a game she would have missed had the technical foul stood.
“She said I ran into her. I’ve already watched it on tape so, we’ll let the league decide but it wasn’t intentional and everything. So I’m hoping it’s getting rescinded. Holly, I’ll see you on Tuesday.”
Caitlin Clark’s response has since sparked a variety of reactions from fans, with many questioning the referee’s competence.
“That ref is so unbelievable, fire her right now!” one fan said. Another fan also criticized the officiating, saying, “Officials at all other levels are a part of the court or field. Different rules in the WNBA.”
“These WNBA refs are so incompetent, they make NBA refs look like scientists,” said another.
While one section of fans was focused on the officiating problems which have been an issue in the W for a while now, another section focused on Clark’s casual tone and parting words to Rowe.
“She said C U Next Tuesday losers! 🫢” one fan said. Another fan also reacted to the moment, saying, “And. She’s. Right. See you in NYC Holly.”
The sequence of actions that led to the supposed technical foul happened during the third quarter of the Fever’s 90-86 victory against the Chicago Sky on Saturday. Clark was driving along the baseline when a bump from defender Natasha Cloud sent her out of bounds. Clark bumped into an official on the sidelines and was given a technical for intentionally making contact with her forearm. However, replay review showed the collision was completely accidental, with no words exchanged.
As a result, the WNBA rescinded the technical foul just over two hours after it was issued. The tech, if it stood, would have been Caitlin Clark’s eighth technical foul of the season. According to the WNBA’s 2026 penalty structure, she would have had to pay a $1,500 fine, as Indiana reporter Scott Agress wrote on X. Clark would have also been suspended for a game, missing the Fever’s next game against the New York Liberty.
Fortunately for Clark and the Fever, the league reversed the decision, meaning she remains at seven technical fouls and will be available for Tuesday’s matchup against the Liberty. Caitlin Clark ended the game with 26 points, 11 assists and four rebounds. The Fever will definitely be counting on another big performance from her to secure a win on Tuesday.
