After Caitlin Clark debued the “Sea of Red” colourway, the hype around the much-anticipated ‘Nike Caitlin 1s’ continues to build, and this time, even Caitlin Clark’s favorite football team’s head coach has joined in. Clark showed her excitement with a not-so-subtle reaction when Andy Reid, the Kansas City Chiefs’ head coach, reacted to receiving the first pair of Nike Caitlin 1s, “Sea of Red.”

Clark showed her appreciation for Reid’s post by commenting under the Kansas City Chiefs’ Instagram post.
“SCREAMINGGGG!!!!!!!!!, ” she wrote.
Her reaction follows a video shared across the team’s social platforms, in which Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid showcased the new sneakers, offering his personal review to fans while delivering high praise for the WNBA and Caitlin Clark.
“I got my new ‘Sea of Red’. Caitlin 1,s right here, from Caitlin Clark. I appreciate you, girl. All the ladies of the WNBA, you guys are unbelievable, man. Keep cranking,” Reid said. “Love watching you. Caitlin, I love the color, man. Look at these things. It’s the same color you wear, and here we are, Chiefs. Love it, baby.”
Even the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce, remained hyped for this new colorway, reacting, “Fire up!!!!”
Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes added, “🔥🔥🔥.”
Clark debuted the Nike Caitlin 1 colorway on Sunday afternoon against the Washington Mystics. Though Washington cruised to a 93-77 victory, Clark put up a 25-point performance.
The “Sea of Red” silhouette features a red-and-gold gradient upper, with Clark’s signature “CC” logo and triple Nike Swooshes rendered in metallic silver. Her No. 22 is along the lace loops in gold, while a matching gold outsole ties together the aesthetic in direct homage to the Chiefs, who also wear red and gold. Clark first previewed the specific design element while appearing on the Kelce brothers’ podcast in December.
The countdown is officially on for one of the year’s most anticipated sneaker debuts. Nike has turned up the volume on its promotional campaign for Clark’s debut signature model, which kicks off its launch slate on October 1. Adding to the buzz, the Indiana Fever star has kept the sneaker world captivated by previewing an expanding roster of designs. This “Sea of Red” is in line with that.
Nike wasn’t done, though. Amplifying the anticipation even further, Clark was seen in a new Nike Instagram post in a different light.
“Just a normal day for @caitlinclark22,” read the post by Nike on Tuesday. It was accompanied by a video showcasing Clark just doing normal chores and following her routine.
“Wake up. Eat cereal. Lace up the Caitlin 1. Sell out arenas. Repeat.”
“At this job, she sells out a variety of arenas, shoots from distances previously considered unnecessary, and wears shoes with her own name on them,” the video says. “The media finds all of this extremely interesting. But to her, this is all totally normal.”
Clearly, this is subtly building on Nike’s debut campaign for Clark’s shoes, which had the headline “Caitlin Clark Turns the Extraordinary to Ordinary.”
Six iterations of the Nike Caitlin 1 are reported to arrive between October and December. The launch begins October 1 with the “Warning Code” and “Caitlin Blue,” followed by the “Midnight Fever” on October 14. The “Cave Stone” will serve as the sole November drop on November 3, while December brings the “Ice Cold” on the 1st and the “Purple Venom” on December 12 ahead of the Christmas holiday.
The Nike Caitlin 1 “Sea of Red” currently lacks an official release date, but it is targeted for a holiday 2026 drop, per Kicks. The sneakers will carry a $140 price tag in adult sizes at Nike.com and select storefronts.
The fans remain as excited as ever for the release. With Clark previously mentioning, “We’re trying to make the best shoe there’s ever been,” it is widely expected that the new Caitlin 1s are going to be a global sellout.
