Caitlin Clark has a perfect suggestion to help you get over your childhood fears: just turn them into a theme for a Halloween makeover. Nike is scheduling the Indiana Fever star’s Nike Caitlin 1 “Jinx” for a Halloween release, inspired by her personal experience during childhood.

A feline inspired the latest colorway in the Nike Caitlin 1 series. Jinx, who was Clark’s neighbor’s cat, made the Fever star quake in her boots during her growing-up years. Jinx’s terror was overwhelming enough to become the inspiration for the WNBA’s biggest star’s shoe design. Now, as the 2024 Rookie of the Year is ready to share her fear with her fans, she is sending an early warning.
“Best of luck getting these,” she wrote on X, reposting the promotional post from Nike.
The shoe giant has released a first look at the initial six colorways weeks before Caitlin 1 was officially released in October. Once it did, it marked the largest signature shoe launch in the company’s history, releasing in 5,000 retail stores. It was launched globally in October, with adult sizes priced at $140 in America and $135 for the rest of the world.
Nike could not have done a better job of making the product video. It would be hard for Clark’s fans, and even not her fans, to ignore the pull of the Caitlin 1 “Jinx.” Nike might have released Clark’s most personal signature shoe.
“Caitlin Clark is not a cat person. When she was a kid, she was terrified of Jinx, her neighbor’s cat. She never forgot that cat. So when Caitlin grew up, she overcame her fear of Jinx by turning him into a pair of signature sneakers. Good thing Jinx has nine lives,” a teaser from Nike said on X.
As the sneaker is set to drop today, Clark herself will be out of the playoffs, spending her time trick-or-treating, while her arch-nemesis, Angel Reese, is set to face the Golden State Valkyries for her first title. If Reese is able to do so, it will be a separate discussion in the Clark-Reese rivalry.
The Nike Caitlin 1 “Jinx” is set to be available for sale on Oct. 30th. Lucky buyers can secure their set of pairs through Nike SNKRS Exclusive Access. Unlike her previous signature sneakers, “Jinx” is priced at $150. The sale will be available only to a few SNKRS members. Nike will personally send an invitation to selected members.
