Every time the Indiana Fever lose, the narrative of tension and division within the team resurfaces almost instantly. And each time it does, coach Stephanie White and Caitlin Clark seem to carry the added burden of having to dismiss the rumors all over again. They have now won three games in a row. And yet, as it turns out, those narratives don’t appear to be quieting down anytime soon.

One reporter brought it up again at the end of the Fever’s post-game press conference following their victory over the Connecticut Sun on Saturday night. In a video shared by reporter Tony East on X, the reporter first pointed to a situation that allegedly occurred on the sideline during the game, something that neither Clark nor White seemed to understand.
“Today, huh?” Clark replied before adding, “What sideline interaction? I’m confused.”
But despite the confusion, the reporter pressed forward, raising the broader reports of “division” within the team and asking whether they wanted to address it.
“We are on a three-game win streak. We are doing good,” Clark added, but responding to the same question, coach White pushed back strongly.
“I don’t think you’re talking about journalism. And so if we’re going to continue to create news from fans on social media or bots on social media or whatever it may be, then that’s a problem, right? I think legitimate news sources need to report legitimate news,” she said.
Caitlin Clark very much appeared to appreciate her coach’s response, immediately replying, “Oh, I like that.”
Of course, for weeks now, rumors of tension and division within the Indiana Fever have continued to circulate online. Some claims even went as far as suggesting that coach White could be fired, or that Clark could be traded to the Sparks. But as Clark herself pointed out, there is a meaningful difference between speculation and substance.
“I think speculation, opinions, what about reports?” she said.
The Fever will now turn their attention to the Toronto Tempo. That matchup presents an opportunity to string together four consecutive victories. And that would be their longest winning streak so far this season. If they manage to do that, it may prove to be the most effective response of all. After all, no amount of denial in a press conference carries the weight that a sustained run of wins does when it comes to silencing rumors that refuse to go away on their own.
Caitlin Clark climbs to sixth on Indiana Fever’s all-time three-pointers list
A win for the Indiana Fever almost always suggests a great performance from Caitlin Clark. This one, however, wasn’t just a great performance. It was a milestone-reaching one as well.
Clark contributed 25 points, three rebounds, and five assists in the 85-75 win. And of those 25 points, 15 came from beyond the arc as she knocked down five three-pointers on the night. With that, Clark officially moved into sixth place in Indiana Fever franchise history for career three-pointers made.
But the more impressive aspect of Clark’s three-point shooting against the Sun was that she actually shot 50%. That equaled her highest three-point percentage in a game this season.
That performance also helped raise her overall three-point percentage for the year to 33.3%. Hopefully, it is a sign that Clark is continuing to find her rhythm from beyond the arc as the Fever look to build on their recent momentum.
