Sophie Cunningham’s offseason might be packed with projects, but it wasn’t busy enough to escape a playful four-word shot from her Indiana Fever teammate, Caitlin Clark.

“Do u play basketball?” Caitlin Clark asked playfully as Sophie posted a February dump on her Instagram account.

The dig was understandable, as Sophie has been extremely busy even during the off-season with her individual projects that also include running a full-time podcast show where she indulges her followers with the nitty-gritty of basketball and other topics.

This wasn’t even the first time the duo had been seen taking friendly shots at one another. Remember the 2025 tunnel walk antics ahead of the Fever and Aces game, where Clark roped Cunningham into a joint tunnel arrival, despite Cunningham’s reluctance.

Fans obviously love everything these two do because of their charismatic personas, as their humor connects with them deeply, so this moment was no exception. Obviously, Sophie isn’t someone who would let that comment from CC slide and retorted with her feelings.

“Do you want me to send you my highlight reel?” said Cunningham.

Now, will sending a highlight reel help Caitlin to gauge the situation better? Doubtful. These two know each other like the back of their hands. When you spend so many minutes together on the court strategizing ways to break down the opposition, it is taken for granted that all the highlight reels are already stored in your memory.

Be it the 2025 Fever vs Chicago game, where Clark and Cunningham combined for clutch shooting in the fourth quarter, with Cunningham’s defensive stops complementing Clark’s scoring burst. Or perhaps the 2025 playoffs, where Cunningham’s physical defense freed Clark to orchestrate the offense. The C and C chemistry (Clark and Cunningham) has been doing wonders for the Fever, and fans would love to see more out of the duo in the future.

But what does the future hold for the WNBA and the players in general amidst the WNBA lockout situation?

Caitlin Clark’s Future Is in Secure Hands in the WNBA

With a WNBA lockout looming on the horizon, details from the league’s latest collective bargaining agreement (CBA) proposal have emerged, and they should appeal to the league’s young stars like Caitlin Clark.

Clark, who is largely credited with the surge in the WNBA’s growth with her stylistic play and skill, is now left to wonder about their future prospects as the CBA deal hangs in the balance. But ESPN’s Alexa Philippou reported Monday that now, if a player finds success early, a lucrative contract will follow them sooner compared to earlier days.

“All-WNBA 1st & 2nd team players who are still on rookie deals would become eligible to sign a max contract in their 4th year & would not be eligible for the core following that extension,” said Philippou

The new proposal suggests that Clark, who was named All-WNBA First Team during her 2024 season, would now find herself eligible to ink a max deal in 2027.

Despite having limited earnings from the league, Caitlin’s earnings from endorsements have seen her rack up millions. Nike, Gatorade, and State Farm have all aligned themselves with her, and it is estimated that her total earnings could get up to $85,873 in WNBA salary.

But again, time is of the essence as an agreement really needs to be reached by March 10th, or else the May 8th date for the WNBA might be pushed back.
